Phoenix wasn't born "normal". Of course it was there normal but not to anyone else. Including their heavily religious family. Not only did they verbally abuse them but physically as well. Their father left 5 years ago due to their mothers alcoholism. Their brother was also addicted to drugs. Drugs that range from weed to heroin.
Their family found Phenyx using magic. You see Phe was born with special power. They had power that they had yet to unlock, their main source was fire. They would play with fire in their hand for hours when their mother locked them into the lonely and dark basement. That basement was Phenyx's personal hell. Their mother and brother would beat them with belts, whips, hickory sticks, and cut them with blades. They did this to "carve away the demons". Their family believed that they were taken over by the devil and that harming them would fix it.
Phe dreaded everyday when they woke up. They hoped and prayed that one day they would be free and on September 12 that moment came. Their best friend and long time crush Ina was having her 16th birthday party and Phe's mother ACTUALLY let them go! They couldnt wait for the blissful night what was to come.
