haunted- nick mara

And there it was, another weird sound that Amelia could not explain to herself. It came out of nowhere, again.

She grabbed her boyfriend Nick's hand a little tighter as he just chuckled. „You good?"

It had been her idea. Going to a forest in her hometown that was apparently haunted. But Amelia didn't think Nick would ever agree on coming. Her whole childhood she was intrigued to visit, though her friends never wanted to. And she was sure as hell not going there alone.

With Nick coming to her hometown to visit her family, Amelia had the brilliant idea to ask him to go. She had been so excited when he agreed but right now, as it was pitch black, around 3am, in the middle of a weird forest, she did regret her decision a little bit.

Another weird sound came from behind the couple that made Amelia flinch. „No I'm not good, what kinda question is that. Let's go back I changed my mind about wanting to be here."

„Oh no no no ma, whenever you tell me about your childhood this forest comes up, now that we're here we're not just gonna leave."

She sighed but he was right. Amelia was indeed really scared but going back and not even having snapped a picture wouldn't be an option.

„Let's go back there that looks cool!" Nick announced as he pulled his girlfriend along to a huge tree trunk that was laying on the wet and glistening floor.

He let go of her hand when he climbed on top of the tree. Amelia immediately shivered at the loss of contact, already missing his warm hand. His thumb that kept going over her hand supportively. She missed the familiar feeling.

Nick asked her to take a picture of him which she gladly did as it was something to keep her occupied, not having to overthink the situation they were in.

When she was done taking a few and Nick had quickly glanced over them, being content with the result, he pulled Amelia up on the tree and sat down with her, legs dangling down the edge.

And as it was quiet for another moment, all the weird stories that were told to her about the forest being haunted as a child came to Amelia's mind. She again, started shivering, sinking into the hoodie she was wearing a bit more.

As Nick's hand traveled around her waist pulling her closer, she put her head on his shoulder, trying to get comfortable in this surrounding.

„You were so excited earlier, what's happened?" Nick whispered as he protectively put his second arm around Amelia as well, rubbing little circles on her shoulder and upper back.

„It's the stories that were told to me and my friends when we were younger, they're all in my head right now I can't think about anything else and I'm losing it."

„You know, we can just do something to distract you, take a few pictures so you have the evidence for your friends that you were finally here? I still have a candy bar in my pocket if you want that? And uh, we could also, you know."

He winked at her at the end of the sentence which made her chuckle at how bold he was being.

„I'm not having sex with you in a forest, Mara!"

„Well alright then let me take a few pictures of you, you look adorable on here."

Nick jumped off the tree and got his phone out while Amelia was complaining about how rough she looked, though he didn't listen to her as he completely disagreed.

She was wearing an oversized hoodie and jeans that hugged her curves perfectly. Her hair up in a perfect ponytail and no makeup. Nick thought she was the most perfect girl in the world. If it was up to him, he'd marry her right then and there, making sure she'd be his forever.
