The Couple

Blaze slowly drifted out of unconscious, his vision was blurred but he was able to tell that there was a light above him telling him that he was inside.

"He's awake" he heard a male friendly voice.

Blaze moved his amber eyes to the source of the voice and slowly blinked.

"How are you feeling?" Asked a dark skinned man with a dark brown afro and loyal blue eyes kneeling next to him.

Blaze felt tired and weak but he had to keep moving. I sat up but he instantly hissed and grabbed his left shoulder as a sharp pain erupted from it.

"Woah, whoa. Slow down" the other man said softly as he slowly lay down Blaze. "We can't have you reopening your wound"

His comment made the amber eyed teenager weakly glance at his shoulder which was bandaged up.

"You were shot. We had to remove the bullet from your shoulder, you were unconscious for a few hours. I had to give you a piggy-back ride on our way here" The blue eyed chuckled at the last sentence.

"There is 'here'? And who's 'we'?" Blaze muttered out tiredly.

"Ah, so you do speak" the man said with a smile. "Well, 'here' is a small apartment room nearly outside of the city, less Biters around these areas. And "we" is me and my girlfriend, Charlie. Oh, I'm Jordan by the way"

"I'm Blaze" He felt like he could trust this guy

Jordan nodded and then there was a opening and closing of the door. Both men turned their heads to it only to see a woman with ocean blue eyes and short blond hair wearing a red beanie stepped in with a bowl of something.

"So, sleeping beauty finally woke up" she said in a teasing tone has she walked to them. "I have some soup, cold unfortunately. There's barely enough power to run this city I think"

Jordan helped Blaze sit up as Charlie passed him the bowl. Blaze said his thanks and started eating. The couple watched the amber eyed teen for a few moments before asking.

"So, do you remember what happened?" Jordan asked carefully.

Blaze stopped and thought for a few seconds. "I remember grabbing medical supplies from a store and then some man pointed a gun at me. I think he panicked and shot me when I tried to defend myself."

"That's rough buddy" Charlie said. "We found some gear on you. We put them in a safe place so we treat your wound easier and so you wouldn't attack us when you woke up."

Blaze just nodded, he wanted to fall asleep again. The couple left the teen alone so he could his soup and get some rest.

"I think we can trust him" Jordan said with a smile when they sat in the small kitchen and talked.
