My Person: A Colleen and Erik Story

"I'm grateful to even know you"

Erik woke up and felt Colleen gently breathing which cause his arms to slightly move up and down with the body they were wrapped around. He looked down at his best friend and saw the rest of his life flash before his eyes. Holidays, job opportunities, a marriage, and new little bubbles of joy. And he saw all of those thug with her right by his side. There was no doubt in Erik's mind that the rest of his life was laying in his arms right at that moment.

Erik looked at the time. It's was 9:34 a.m. so shook Colleen softly and gently whispered in her ear, "Hey it's time to wake up."

Colleen opened her eyes and looked very confused. Erik thought it was adorable. Then she looked up at Erik and was shocked to see him. Then she looked at how they were laying, but didn't bother to move because she was so comfortable laying in his arms.

"I'm sorry. Did I fall asleep on you last night?"

"Yeah, but it's okay. You are an excellent cuddler."
Colleen looked down and blush from what Erik said.

"Well you make a good pillow. Very firm." Colleen gave Erik a little smile as she said that. Her comment surprised Erik and made him laugh.

Colleen rested her head on Erik's chest while Erik layed his head on hers. They were both content in that moment and could lay with each other forever.

Erik felt kind of creepy, but he could help smelling her hair. It smelled fruity, like strawberries.

"Your hair smells nice." Erik said then kissed the top of her head.

"Really? It must be the dry shampoo cause I haven't washed this ish in days." Colleen was surprised that he still thought she smelled good after not washing it for like 3 days.

"So can we just lay here all day?" Colleen want time to stop and be in this moment with Erik forever.

"Colleen, I would do anything if it means I get to hang out and cuddle you all day." Erik squeezed her into him embrace so they were pushed together even more.

"Hey Erik." Colleen was about to get really deep and sappy, but she didn't care. She knew she needed to say this, "You have no idea how grateful I am to have you in my life and for you to consider me a friend. Like, I know if been emotional and whiny this past year and you didn't need to be a shoulder for me to cry on, but you were there for my through everything."Colleen started to tear up, "Ugh I'm so lame! What I'm trying to say is that you're an amazing person and I'm so so so lucky to have my in my life. I can see you being in my life forever. I know you are one of my soulmates."

Erik wiped some tears from her face and had the goofiest smile. What she said made him feel over the moon. Hearing his...person(?) say something so sweet and genuine about the way she feels gave him the confidence to speak his mind as well.

"You're not lame at all!" Erik said laughing. "You inspire me so much Colleen. After everything you went through you still went out of your way to spread a positive message for people. You are so strong and talented. I'm grateful to even know you."

Colleen has never experienced a more cheesy or romantic moment in her whole life. After the year she's had she honestly gave up on trying to find someone to be in love with. Little did she know her person was there the entire time.
