The rain was light but steady, effectively soaking anyone who dared to be out for more than thirty seconds. Hercules watched it from his window until he heard the doorbell.
He rushed over and opened his door, startled when he saw Lafayette drenched in rain and staring back at him sadly.
"Hey Herc, Sorry to bother you, but could I sleep here tonight? My parents are fighting again,"
Herc grabbed Laf's shoulders and pulled him inside, slamming the door shut. "You must be freezing,"
Laf was shaking slightly. "I'm fine. Was that a yes to staying here...?"
"You're always welcome here. Always. I'll get you a shirt, take off the one that you're wearing,"
Lafayette hesitantly peeled it off and slipped on the sweatshirt that Herc handed him. Herc tried not to stare at Laf's exposed body, but failed at a pretty epic amount.
"Why're you staring at me?" The shirt was big on Laf and hung around him cutely.
"N-no reason! No reason...you're just, cuteorwhateverimeanyourekindofhot,"
Laf tilted his head. "Slow down,"
Herc took a deep breath. "You're hot,"
Lafayette turned crimson. "O-oh?"
"Yeah," Herc looked off to the side.
"So...you're queer? I asked before but you didn't get the chance to answer, and you never brought it up again, so..."
"I'm bi, yeah. Sorry if that weirds you out or something,"
"I'm pan," Laf said abruptly.
"Really? Are you dating anyone?"
Laf chuckled and tugged at the sleeves of his shirt. "If I was, you'd be the first to know. You are sort of my best friend,"
Herc smiled and laughed. "I was hoping to be more than 'sort of your best friend,'" he said playfully.
Laf smiled too. "Oh yeah? You think you can compete for best friend?"
"Who am I competing with?"
"Mm... Alex? Maybe. But I think you've got it in the bag,"
"Good,"
They held each other's gazes for a long while until they both started blushing and looked away. Nervous laughter crossed between them.
"So..."
"So?"
"You, um...you like anyone right now?"
"Sort of, Yeah...sometimes it seems like he doesn't notice,"
Herc looked sad for a moment and then brightened a bit. "Sucks for him. He's missing out on a helluva guy,"
Lafayette threw him a look. "Are you dating anyone?"
"No. I haven't dated someone in two years,"
"Damn, why not?"
"Nobody wants to date me, I guess. It's kinda rough, man. Sometimes I wonder if I'm good enough,"
Lafayette softened. "Of course you are,"
Herc sighed. "For who? I certainly haven't met them,"
Laf hugged him tightly. Herc felt tears come to his eyes as he held Laf too.
"Herc, you're great. You need to start loving yourself,"
"How am I supposed to love myself when no one ever showed me I was worth loving?" Herc started to pull back a little. "Sorry, that's a little too deep,"
Lafayette pulled him tight again. "Until you learn to love yourself, I'll love you..."
"You. You what???"
Lafayette met his eyes confidently. "I love you,"
"I..."
Hercules pressed against Laf and kissed him as passionately as he could, which Lafayette happily returned. After several moments like that, Lafayette asked a question:
"Are we together? Do you want to be?"
"Yes. Yes. Please."
Lafayette chuckled. "Are you okay? Really?"
"Y-Yeah. I've loved you for a while...I just thought you could never love me back,"
"I do...you look a little pale, love, are you tired?"
Herc nodded and started to lead Laf off, but stopped abruptly. "Are you okay with sleeping in my bed? Not like, doing anything, just sleeping, but I wanted to make sure you were okay with that,"
"Of course,"
Hercules laid down on the mattress in his room and gestured for Laf to lay beside him. When the other man complied, Herc threw a blanket over them both and cautiously reached for his hand.
Lafayette intertwined their fingers with a smile. "Goodnight, Herc,"
"Goodnight,"
There was silence in the dark.
"I love you, Laf,"
"I love you too,"
AN: I probably mentioned this before but I'm too lazy to check. Requests are always open.
