"no matthew!" corine screamed at the tall brunette.

"corine calm down it was just an interview" he shrugged her off like she meant nothing.

to be fair corine was on edge from not smoking, she was trying to quit. but life made that more difficult.

matthew agreed that if she quit he would too. what he didn't know was that she kept a pack in her purse.

she was good at resisting but now wasn't the time to resist, she could already feel a headache coming on and she just needed the sweet taste of menthol.

she switched from smoking reds to the marlboro blues, the best in her opinion.

"you said i was your girlfriend, we're not exclusive you big idiot !" she clutched her throbbing head in her black chipped nail polish clad hands.

"didn't know you were that ashamed of me corine, i think it's best if you left" he looked at her with so many emotions and none at all at the same time.

she felt the familiar sting in her chest, a sob escaped her mouth, the tears already pouring down her cheeks.

she looked up at the tall man standing in front of her, glasses sitting in front of his tired eyes, she felt her heart plummet to her stomach.

he looked away not being able to watch her cry, he knew she had trust issues but he wanted people to know he was with a beautiful girl with a beautiful soul.

"corine please just go!" he looked at the broken girl and silently hoped she would stay. but when she got up and walked out with sobs still escaping her red lips he knew she might never walk back through that door.

he wanted to chase her into the rain and tell her he loved her, but this wasn't a bad romance film and he knew he would find her sitting on their bench with smoke blowing out of her nose.

he was right, even though it hurt them both.
