I remember when they first met.
It was a shocking, time stopping moment.
If anyone just knew what was going on, they would've stopped and stared.
But it just seemed... Normal.
It wasn't.
It was a normal school day, or so they both thought. Getting to school was simple, but trying to get to their first class wasn't as simple. It never was. How could it be when there are so many other people crowding the hallways like a traffic jam? Nobody can know who's going what way. It was like Black Friday and everyone had to rush to claim the best deals.
"Oof!"
Someone had pushed Lou into another person making her almost drop her books. She was embarrassed as she tilted her head up to apologize to the stranger. A pool of blue ocean eyes stared down at her to meet her gaze. Lou bit her lip and hesitantly took a step back to give him some space even though people were pushing past him to get to class.
"I'm sor-" She suddenly cut herself off when she was able to actually look at him.
Him.
Lou was stunned. Stunned at how he looked. At how familiar he looked. The ocean blue eyes, the dark messy hair, the intense look, the strong jawline.
He looked like him.
Lou was suddenly attacked by the memories. The memories she spent months trying to forget. The memories she had shoved into a deep, deep hole, but somehow, they managed to slip out and swarm her once again.
It was all so sudden. She felt a burst of feelings. Despair, grief, pain, sorrow, and shock. They all came at her like a tsunami of emotions.
Every time she looked at this man, this man standing in front of her, all she could think about was those memories. Memories filled with smiles, laughs, hand holding, cuddling on a warm bed, all the sweet and goofy conversations. The man she once loved.
Skrrrrrrt- crash
Lou jumped slightly, feeling as if a bullet just pierced through her heart, the sound of a car crashing ringing in her ears. Screams, police sirens, chaos.
The sound of the heart monitor ending in a long beep. All she could see was that straight red line.
Long months filled with apologies, tears, and pain. Months filled with never ending thoughts, and 'Oh, God, why?'
Why couldn't she save him?
"Are you okay?"
Lou's eyes widened. His voice. It sounded deep, but that even reminded her of him. Reality slowly started creeping up on her, and she checked her surroundings. Some people might've thought she was crazy. Some even whispered.
Because they knew.
They were all well aware of the tragedy. It was as if they all knew what was going on in her mind. They knew everything.
"Hey." The male voice speaks softly, and he puts his firm hand on her shoulder.
Lou jumped in surprise, not expecting that at all. His touch felt so warm, so inviting, it scared her. She knew she had to get away. She had to lock these memories away forever. She could not be around this guy for he makes her remember, and remembering brings her pain.
"I'm sorry..." She whispered so quietly.
He gave her a soft look. A look she was sure she wouldn't be able to forget for a long time. She would now have to spend so many more months trying to lock these memories away once again, and something tells her she'll have a harder time doing so this time. Lou casted her gaze down to the floor and she quickly walked past him. A few people watched as she did so. She hoped he wouldn't stop her.
He didn't.
Lou didn't dare to turn around and look. She wanted to feel relieved he didn't stop her, but instead she had a sinking feeling inside her. Why is she sad? This is what she wanted after all. Right?
I do not regret what I did. This is what I wanted, what I needed, but no matter how hard I try, something tells me I will never be able to forget this.
