I woke up and stretched with the morning sun as it's warm light filled the cove. The cove seemed as though it was alive as all the other dragons flew up from their nests and the beautiful trees sang with the birds. Seashear, the stormcutter who had taken care of me since I was a toddler, took off to get breakfast and I hopped on to a groncle who flew me down to the bottom of the cove where a huge sagefruit stood tall. I grabbed a sagefruit and handed it to the groncle and it flew off with the yellow fruit in its mouth. I sat down by the tree and dipped my feet in the water. The beautiful sunrise gleaming lighting up the still water making it look as if it was a mirror. Seashear glided down next to me and then put her head in my lap while sitting down. I took off two sagefruits and handed one to her while I took a bite out of my own. The bittersweet taste of the fruit made me feel refreshed and awake.
The mornings in the cove were beautiful. I've been here ever since I could remember. When I was a baby I must've been stranded or left somewhere, at least until seashear came along and raised me to who I am now. She taught me everything. How to defend myself, how to fight, catch food as if I was her baby. Of course I'm not a dragon. But she's been there for me. I don't know about my parents or anything about me.
It was quite peaceful, until seashear sat up with a jolt startling me and the terrible terrors that sat in the tree. I got up and tried to calm her down when she scooped me up and threw me on her back. She zoomed off out towards the ocean with a scared and worried feel to her. What is wrong with her? What is she doing? I tried to stay calm because I trust her, but she has never done this before. The wind was cold with a blast of sea spray and we were going pretty fast. We were flying for a pretty long time. We had passed a family of scouldrens who seemed to be aggravated by our presence because seashear jerked up trying to dodge the flesh-burning spray of water, there was a terrible terror with what looked like a white leaf rolled up with a fine rapped around it. It was very strange I had never seen a terror do this.
( Amber has never seen paper or any civilized contraptions since she was raised by dragons)
There was a strange island in the distant. Maybe that's where seashear was taking us. She started to speed up when all of a sudden everything just went black. I heard a splash and a loud dragon screech. I think I must've gotten thrown off of seashear! But why? I opened my eyes and started swimming towards seashear, but i got thrown into the air and then everything went black again and I couldn't move. After awhile I woke up and sat up with my eyes still closed. I went to grab seashear's horns but instead I felt long and multiple horns. I opened my eyes and realized I wasn't on seashear anymore......... I was on a deadly nadder! "Seashear!?" I exclaimed frantically looking around to see if she was in the water and the deadly nadder squawked at me. I looked at her with a puzzled face and she looked under her and so did I. There seashear was dangling from the nadder's claws. I gasped and the nadder looked at me with a reassuring look which I felt as it meant she is okay.
I looked ahead at the huge mountain surrounded by trees that appeared to be the island I had seen before the collision. The nadder landed on the beach and set seashear down and I hopped off and ran to seashear. I sat down next to her and started stroking her face she opened her eyes and looked at me then looked at the nadder behind me and growled while backing up. I stood up in front of seashear so I could block her view and stop her from shooting the nadder. I said "no stop she is a friend!" And the nadder looked startled but walked up behind me. I pet under the nadder's chin and seashear relaxed. I looked up at the trees and back at the sea. Where were we?I hoped you liked this story so far! It's only the first chapter and it's really short I know. It's not that good so feel free to give constructive criticism :3
