Chapter Forty Nine: Excited!

Riley squeals at the top of her lungs as Chris holds her up in the air with his feet, while he lies down on his back, on the floor in our bedroom.

"Keep your balance, munchkin! Don't fall!..Don't fall!" Chris says with a little scream and big chuckle as he tries to keep Riley balanced on the top of his feet.

"I'm trying!" Riley says with a loud giggle as she tries to keep herself balanced as well. But she keeps on losing it and it just causes her and Chris to break out into a fit of laughter.

I smile at my goofy daughter and boyfriend as I watch them through the mirror of my makeup table, that's directly right next to them as I get ready for today.

So a month and about two weeks have officially passed and I'm happy to say that I'm now sixteen weeks pregnant! My stomach has grown so much and it's to the point where my bump can be easily seen if I wear anything nice and fighting.

I'm ecstatic about that because it means a tiny human being is actually growing inside of me once again. But since Chris and I wanted to keep the baby a secret from our families until we found out the gender, I've been having to wear loose fitting stuff ever since I was about eleven weeks pregnant.

I'm not complaining about that though. I actually like wearing loose stuff like big sweaters and some of Chris' hoodies or t-shirts because they're so comfy to wear! Especially on the days where I feel the crappiest while being pregnant.

But I'm feeling really good today though because today is Chris and I's surprise baby/gender reveal party. Two days ago, Chris and I had a doctors appointment to found out the gender of our baby. Riley and my dad came with us, but my dad is the only one who knows the gender of the baby.

Chris, Riley and I all wanted to be surprised with the rest of our families, while my dad wanted to have the honor of planning the reveal and decorating for it as well and he did a pretty job.

The way today is going to play out, is my family and Chris' family are all coming over to 'hang out' and 'have a nice big lunch together'. But in reality Chris, Riley and I are all going to hit them with the surprise that all of our families are about to get a little bigger.

We're going to make the announcement once everyone gets here by actually having Riley announce it. She's going to say something cute like "I'm going to be a big sister," or whatever she wants to say, while Chris and I both hold up pictures of the baby from our last ultrasound. Then after the announcement we're all going to go outside onto the patio to find out the gender.    

Since it's getting a nicer outside, we're having the reveal out there and a majority of the party as well. Dad, all by himself, put tables outback that are decorated with blue and pink table cloths, balloons, streamers and bits of confetti and there's a sign saying Boy or Girl hanging above them. He also put deserts on them too, but they're all covered because they're the color of the gender and no one's allowed to see them until after the reveal. And the way we're doing the gender reveal, is everyone's going to get a little smoke bomb that's filled with the color of the gender and once my Dad counts down everyone's going to pull it and we're all going to see what it is and I'm so excited!

"Are you excited for today Mommy?" Riley asks while she's still on top of Chris' feet.

"I am very excited baby and can't wait to see if you get a new baby brother or sister" I say as I look over at Riley with a big smile after I finished curling my hair and put the last of my makeup on.

Riley smiles at me before looking down at Chris. "Are you excited Daddy?"

"I am because I can't wait to see what everyone's reaction will be when you tell them Mommy and I are having a baby. Especially my Mommy's reactions" Chris says, making Riley and I both smile at him.

"You love your mommy don't you?" Riley asks as she looks down and smiles at Chris.

"I do, but I think I love you and your mommy a little bit more" Chris says as he takes Riley off his feet before hugging her close to him and kissing her all over her face.

Riley giggles/squeals as Chris does that and I smile at the both of them. But Chris soon stops what he was doing and he and Riley finish getting ready for today and once they do, we all head downstairs.

"Well don't you all look nice for today" Dad says with a smile as Chris, Riley and I walk into the living room.

I'm wearing a light maroon colored v-neck short sleeve shirt, black jeans, grey cardigan and white low top converses. Chris is wearing a black long sleeve v-neck, dark blue jeans and brown boots. While Riley is wearing a simple white dress, jean jacket and beige colored flats. We're all wearing something simple so no one suspects anything once they get here.

"Thanks dad" I say with a smile as I walk over to my dad.

"You're welcome" Dad says as he gets up from the couch and gives me a hug. "You guys ready for today?"

"A little nervous, but it's a good nervous" I say as I pull away from my dad and smile at him.

"That's a good thing though" Dad says as he smiles at me and gives my forehead a little kiss.

I smile at Dad before feeling my heart quicken after the doorbell rings, meaning my family and Chris' family are arriving.

I look over at Riley and Chris and give them an excited, yet nervous smile. Chris returns it as he holds Riley and gives her forehead a little kiss before walking over to me.

"You ready?" Chris asks with a soft smile.

"I'm more nervous now, but I'm ready. Are you?" I ask.

"As long as you're ready, I'm ready" Chris says.

I smile at Chris before leaning up and pecking his lips nice and quick. "Let's do this then."
