Yes, I just skipped a few years. No, it won't happen that often. Deal with it =P
♦Sept. 2nd, first day of 8th grade♦
"Wake up, bud! First day of school!" my dad shakes me awake.
"I'm up, I'm up..." I mumble. My dad leaves and I put on some athletic pants and a purple v-neck. My clothes never match, but I don't really care. I put on socks and my worn-out Supras and run downstairs. I put waffles in the toaster and get out the syrup. While the waffles are toasting, I go through my backpack and make sure everything's in there.
"Pencils..check. Sharpener...check. Books & folders...yup. Phone..got it."
My waffle pops. I pour some syrup on it and wolf it down. "C'mon West, you'll be late!" My dad calls.
"Coming!"
I slip on my backpack and run outside, and my dad gives me a big bear hug. "You're growing up so fast..." He says.
"Dad, you said that when I started 5th grade. And 6th. And 7th. It's getting old."
He laughs as I hear my bus screech to a stop. I wave goodbye and hop on. I take an empty seat near the back.
Bad choice.
"Hey kid, get outta my seat." a tall boy with greasy black hair says to me. "Sorry..." I mumble, and I get out and start walking up the aisle. The guy gives me a shove from behind, causing me to fall flat on my face. All the other kids are laughing and pointing, one or two even take pictures on their cell phones. I get up and slide into my seat. After a few minutes of looking down, someone talks to me. "Mind if I sit here?" a girl asks me shyly.
"Sure." I reply.
We sit in silence. After about thirty seconds, she says "My name's Julie. What's yours?"
"Oh, my name's Weston. But call me West."
"You okay? You look kinda sad."
"Bad first day. It has terrible B.O. and is sitting four seats back."
She laughs. I really like her laugh and her smile and the way she talks...
Right. So. She turns around to look at the tall kid in the leather jacket. "Oh. Okay. I'll avoid him."
I pull out my schedule. She pulls out hers. We have the same homeroom, science, choir, reading, writing, math, social studies, and lunch.
So we'll basically get to see each other in every class.
I really like Julie. But I decide to get to know her better before I ask her out.
♦Julie's POV♦
I look around for an open seat, but I find one with a boy in it who's kinda cute and looks lonely. Besides, I need to make some friends. "Mind if I sit here? I ask."
"Sure." He says.
I ask him what his name is and tell him mine. "Oh, my name's Weston. But call me West."
He looks sad, so I ask him if he's okay. "Bad first day. It has terrible B.O. and is sitting four seats back." I laugh at his joke, and I see him smile for just a fraction of a second. I then turn around and see a mean-looking tall kid.
"Oh. Okay. I'll avoid him." My first day, new school, new town...wasn't turning out to be so bad.
We both pull out our schedules-we have every class together. Which is good-I kind of like this kid.
The bus screeches to a halt, and everyone stands up to get out.
♦Weston♦
We file out of the bus and through the doors of the building. It's way bigger on the inside than it looks like on the outside. It smells like paper. I find my way to homeroom. I'm the first one there. Then Matt, Gino, Edgar, Eden, Kyla, Julie, Cameron, and that jerk from the bus and his jerk friends.
Mr. Buck says, "Welcome to 8th grade everyone! Except Gino, of course. I hate you." The entire class laughs, minus Julie. The door opens, and Jayden walks in. "You're late." says Mr. Buck. "Sorry..." Jayden says, slightly sarcastically.
Mr. Buck babbles on, while all I can think about is Julie. She looks so nervous, and I have no idea why. I'll ask her later.
Second, third, and fourth period are basically the same, and then comes lunch. I meet Julie in the locker bay. "Hey." I say. She jumps and turns around.
"Agh! Don't do that!" She yells and play-pushes me.
"Well, anyway, do you wanna sit by me and my friends at lunch?"
"Sure." she says, and smiles.
"Hey...why were you so nervous in homeroom?"
Her smile vanishes, and she zones out for a few seconds. "I...uh...don't really want to talk about it." She tears up. I didn't realize that it was this bad. Five seconds later the's full-out sobbing. I hug her to try and make her comfortable. "I-I'm really sorry I brought it up..." I say.
"No. Don't be." She wipes her eyes. "It's not your fault."
-Five Minutes Later-
"So here's where me and my friends sit." I lead Julie to our table.
I introduce Julie to my friends, and my friends to Julie. She takes a bite of her pizza. "Mmm. This is really good." She says.
"Yeah. This school is pretty wealthy, so we get good food." says Kyla.
Things are all going well, but then I see the tall kid from the bus and things get serious.
