Will You BEE My Friend?
Shadows stretch up,
the sun fades away,
and thus brings the end of another long day.
But deep in a forest
of oak and birch wood,
sat a small bumblee who was kind and good.
The bumblebee sat
alone and afraid,
He had lost his hive,
his home he had made.
The night covered forest gave him a fright,
for there was no one to comfort him all through the night.
He buzzed his little wings and started to fly,
watching the shadows as they passed by.
"I'll make a friend!" The bumblebee said,
"One who will be with me until the end."
A small ladybug was crawling below.
She walked right along with her babies in tow.
"Will you be my friend?" The bumblebee asked.
But the ladybug screamed,
running off really fast.
Then came a bluebird singing a song.
He was chirping about
as night came along.
"Will you be my friend?" The bee asked with his best.
But the bird just retreated to his home in a nest.
A quiet deer laid down in the grass.
She was very content to let the night pass.
"Will you be my friend?" The bee said just so.
"You buzz too loud!!" Wailed the deer, saying no.
A great big bear made his way to a cave.
The night had come,
no time to misbehave.
"Will you be my friend?" The bumblebee cheered,
only scaring the bear.
Twas the buzzing he feared.
The thunder then crashed.
Rain pelted down,
soaking the wings and the bee's little crown.
He could no longer fly.
Was this the end
of the small bumblebee and his quest for a friend?
He was tossed by the wind
and soaked by the rain.
All through the night
his hopes were in vain.
But as the morning sun shone on the glistening dew,
a young girl from a village came walking through.
She saw the small bee
with his soaked and hurt wings.
She understood all little things.
She was a friend of nature and loved it all,
she scooped up the bee who was curled in a ball.
Taking him home, she let his wings dry
From the sun through her window, down from the sky.
The bee opened his eyes
and tried to run,
but the human girl soothed him and said, "Stay in the sun."
She said, "Don't run away,
I saved you, small bee.
I knew you were lost.
Be friends with me!
When you are better, I'll help you get home.
Then we can play.
Through the fields we will roam.
"I don't mind your buzz.
You're special, you know.
Honest, I mean it,
I'm telling you so!
We'll be friends forever.
Soon you will see,
you're welcome to join my family."
The bee was so happy,
he had found a friend.
The girl kept her promise.
They were friends till the end.
Remember this lesson,
even when I'm done,
to love and to care for everyone.
Shadows stretch up,
the sun fades away,
and thus brings the end of another long day.
