School is out and Christmas is just around the corner! Besides Halloween, Christmas was always your favourite holiday. The turkey, the snow, the gifts and the carols always tickled your fancy. You were going home for the holidays to see your family this year. It's been 3 years since you last saw them. The reason for that is they have recently been bugging you about finding the 'right person' and settling down. You wish to live your life to the fullest with your friends.
Willow is gonna stay at the Academy for the holidays. It is either because of her love for the cafeteria food or the fact that she's just generally too lazy to move her ass.
You had already packed and now you are just waiting for the subway to take you to Kyoto. Snow was already falling to the ground and onto the top of your head. You brush it off quickly as the train begins pull up until you are aligned with the doors. They open and you rush on and take a seat. Most students are excited to be going home but you have mixed feelings. You just know the topic will be brought up and you will not know how to respond. On the other hand, you get to escape Yui and Mephisto for a bit. You haven't fallen out with Mephisto or anything. It's just, you two haven't really spoke since your night together, making it really awkward. You felt bad you didn't even say goodbye to him before you left for the station.
The subway jolted backwards slightly and quickly set off causing you to jump and hit your head on the pole next to you. The bus continued in a smooth and speedy fashion, getting you to Kyoto in about 5 hours. You hop off the subway and call for a taxi. You soon arrive at the doorstep of your parents' house. It had a very traditional Japanese design with small crystal ponds in the garden and surrounded by cherry blossom trees (which still had their petals). Little frog statues were laid all around the garden and there were stone jugs pouring out water from the house into the pond; you've never found out what 'type' of house water it was coming out of the jug.
You knock on the door and you are greeted by your mother. (You can think of what your family looks like for yourself). 'Ah! My sweet (y/n)!' She hugs you tightly for about what seems to be eternity before finally freeing her grasp of you. 'I'm so glad you could make it, darling. Oh! Your bags must've been difficult to carry here, I'll help you with that.' She snaps her fingers and one of the households servants emerge from the shadows, taking your bags and carries them inside. Your mum smiles warmly as she ushers you in. You walk inside through a small hallway into the main dining room. You feel your face get a blast of heat from the new air conditioning installed a couple of months ago. A long table was decked out. Roughly 35 relatives were kneeling at the sides of the table, turning their heads to see you walk through the sliding door. You don't know your relatives that well because you didn't wish to have any contact with them. You hate distant relatives because they barely know you yet they think they still have a right to boss you about like your parents did.
You smile falsely and sit next to your third cousin and fifth godfather and turn to face your mum, who was standing at the end of the table ready to begin talking. The room falls silent and your mum clears her throat. 'Hello everyone, seeing as though it is Christmas Eve tonight, we shall start to prepare our Christmas feast tonight and get right people to do the right jobs.' You tap your fingernails against the table as it subtly makes a *rap* *rap* sound in excitement. You've always wanted to make the Turkey. It is one of your favourite parts of the traditional Christmas meal. 'Tadashi, you will be in charge of laying the table. Ari, you will be in charge of decorating and (y/n)...' You nod excitedly and lean in to hear what your mum has to say. 'You... will be the one to wait in line at KFC.' You freeze. Confused. Your brain tries to process what you just heard. 'KFC??? At Christmas? What about the Turkey, the roast potatoes, the Christmas pudding? Are we seriously just going to a fast food place?' You never took part in your families Christmas because there were always too many relatives. 'Honey, what's wrong?' Your mum says calmly. 'I-I thought we were making turkey and Christmas Pudding, not... KFC...'
'But it's Japanese tradition,' Your mum says. 'You never took part in our celebrations but I was sure you knew about this' You shake your head.
'No, the only true Christmas' I've had are with Willow and her family. I guess, come to think of it, she comes from America so I guess turkey is their Christmas tradition.' You frown. 'Aw honey, I think you'll love this feast once you try it.'To be continued...
(HOOOOOOOOLLLYYYYY SHIT I WAS GONE FOR SO LONG! Sorry I've been working on school and my art a lot so I kinda forgot about this. I know this chapter didn't involve Mephisto much don't worry, the next chapter will.)
