Sunday, November 9

The sun woke me up at 7:30a.m. Brandon and David were still asleep, so I got out of the tent. This was the perfect time to test out the gem, the morning. I started with something easy such as going back two minutes. Not always am I going to want to start my whole day over, so, I'm going to try this. "Two minute Undo."

The blue lights struck again. Nope, that phrase didn't work. I woke up and got out of the tent at 7:30 again. I stood up and said, "Undo two minutes."

Yep, nothing worked again. I got out of the tent one more time. "Undo to 7:32a.m." Except this time, no lights, instead it was like I was in a trance. A trance where I saw everything in reverse. I awoke from the daydream and looked at my watch, "7:32a.m." That's it! I have to say the time unless I want to start the whole day over.

David got out of the tent. "What do you have there?," David asked pointing towards my gem. I stood up and said, "oh nothing, just a cool looking rock I found. I was just going to put it on my lanyard." I headed over to the bags and pulled out my lanyard. I placed the gem on the lanyard and wrapped it around my neck. Brandon woke up and came out of the tent. "Morning. What're y'all up to?," he asked still half asleep. "Nothing, I just woke up," I said, "I found this sweet rock." He looked at me with confusion, "what's so sweet about it?" I looked at it and then back to him, "It's lustrous and shines green. It just looks sweet." David piped up, "Whatever dude, put it on your lanyard and shut up." "You know, you don't have to be such a jerk all the time," I replied, "anyway, let's eat. I'm starving."

We took a couple of pictures at the top of the peak before we headed back down the mountain. Nothing happened the rest of the day other than the fact that we went home and went straight to bed.

Monday, November 10
The worst sound in the world woke me up; my alarm clock. I rolled off my bed as I hit the snooze button, and laid on the floor for a good five minutes. I got up and showered before I got dressed and ready for school. Now, it's time to start the day.

I was twenty minutes early when I reached the school at 7:41. I got out of my car and headed towards the entrance. I scanned my ID and went straight towards my locker. There was a 'Caution: Wet Floor' sign on the floor that I didn't noticed and I ran right into it. I heard giggles as I flew on the ground in front of the whole school. Even the underclassmen were laughing. I stood up and started walking again, but they continued to laugh and point. This was a horrible way to start my day.... "Undo to 7:45." It happened, I was in a trance, everything was in reverse, I couldn't control it even if I wanted to. I looked at my watch, "7:45," the minute right before I tripped on the stupid sign. I reached my locker with a smile and said in a low voice, "Thank you, magical gem," and laughed slightly as I grabbed my marine book out of the locker. When I shut the locker, Lucy was right where the locker was located. "Thanks a lot, Mr. Flarone is having a pop quiz today," she said angered.

"What? He's never had pop quiz on a Monday! I'm so sorry, Lucy!," I said even though I knew it wasn't going to make a difference. She sat on the ground, "I'm going to fail this, and I studied so hard last night." I responded, "When did you find out about the quiz?" "When I got to school. Lander told me," she said. Lander was one of the populars also. He's the captain of the football team who also happens to be in the top twenty-five percent of our class. She continued, "You know what? Forget tonight. I'll ask someone else to help me," as she walked into marine. "Lucy, wait!," I yelled, but she didn't turn around and continued to walk into the classroom.

I entered the room as the bell rang. Mr. Flarone brought the pop quizzes to each of our desks. I looked over at Lucy, she looked back, but it was a look of desperation and disappointment. I answered all ten questions, probably correctly, I only think I missed one. She didn't finish when the bell rang. She handed it in and I overheard her say she didn't answer five of them. "Lucy, can I ask you something?," I said. "What do you want? Can't you just leave me alone?," Lucy said. "What time did you get to school today?," I replied. "I don't know, about 7:50, why?," she asked. I held out the gem, "Undo to 7:50."

7:50am, ten minutes until class, the time Lucy arrived at school. There she was! "Lucy! Mr. Flarone is having a pop quiz today! I need to help you study quickly!," I said. We reviewed the notes over and over again until the bell rang. She looked over at me with a smile, "Thanks so much. Hopefully I'll pass."

I turned it in knowing all the answers and looked over at Lucy. She looked back as she turned in the paper. She whispered, "I knew it all! Thank you so much!"

The bell rang and it was time for the rest of the day.

There it was; Frew's Cafe. The time was 6:34PM. I looked around for Lucy, but I didn't see her. The cafe is very vintage with all the neon lights everywhere. Their sign is a neon burger with a cursive 'F' in the middle of it. It's usually very busy, but since it's a Monday, only a few people were there. Then, her golden Chrysler pulled into the vacant parking lot. She stood up out of her car in a bright red shirt and jeans. My eyes staring as if I were hypnotized. She noticed me and waved. "Hey," she said. I gulped and said, "Hey," I headed towards the door and opened it for her. We went into the restaurant and waited to be seated. "Welcome to Frew's, party of 2?," the lady said. "Yes, ma'am," I replied. "Alright, follow me."

We headed towards the table as she laid down the menus on the table. We sat down in somewhat silence besides the commentary of other tables. She started to reach for her bag when I asked, "So tell me about yourself." She looked up at me as I kept watching my watch. 6:47PM. "What does that have anything to do with Marine Biology?," she asked. "It doesn't, I just figured we should get to know each other a little better before we start studying," I said. She replied smiling, "Well, okay....but we have to start studying soon." I looked at my watch then back at her. 6:50PM. "So, again, tell me about yourself, ha." She smiled and said, "Well, I was born in Tigerville, South Carolina on February 16. My father left when I was three, and my mom moved us from small town South Carolina to big city Jacksonville, Florida." Without thinking I asked, "Why'd you move from Florida?" She started to tear up, "Can we not bring that up?" I said, "Oh, sorry, yeah, sure," as I looked down at my watch again. 6:54PM. A short brunette girl came over towards the table and asked for our order. Lucy ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a milkshake, and I asked for a cheeseburger with fries and a soda.

She looked at me and goes, "You have good taste in food." We both laughed when it got serious, she looked at me and asked, "Now, what about you?" I looked at my watch and said, "There's really nothing much. I'm an open book." She looked at me with a straight face, "Oh c'mon, there's got to be something. I know there is." "Oh fine. I was born in Raleigh on December 8. I have a sister, but she's older and lives in California. I live with my grandparents because my parents left when I was little. That's pretty much it. I go to Greyson high, but you know that ha." I looked back at my watch. She started to tear up again when she said, "We moved because my grandma died and we needed to get out of there. Being there was only a reminder of her." As I looked at my watch, I said, "I'm so sorry." 7:01PM. The waiter started to come with our food on a tray. "Here we go," she said, "one cheeseburger with fries and a malt, and one cheeseburger with fries and a soda." Right as she was setting my drink down, a little kid flew by and shoved her. The soda went flying and landed on me. Out of reaction I stood up drenched. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry," she said. As I held out the gem. "Undo to 7:01PM."

This time the trance was really cool because I could see the soda in reverse. "Here we go," the waitress said, "déjà vu." She has no idea. The kid came running again. The soda went flying again, but this time I dodged it. Again, the waitress said, "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" I looked at her and said, "it's okay, it wasn't your fault." She left to go get another soda. "Anyway," she said, "shall we study after we eat?" I smiled and replied, "we shall." We ate with a few side conversations and began to study. We covered all of the things she was unsure about. This was going better than ever, and it's all because of the gem. Then, she stood up and said, "Thanks so much for helping me tonight. You're a good friend." She started to head towards the door when I said under my breath, "yeah....friend." The night had come to an end, and then I realized. With the gem, I can do anything. I might even tryout for the football team, then she might be into me! That was my plan, but until then, I needed sleep. This was the end of an amazing day, all thanks to the gem.
