Chapter 1: Despair

They grey atmoshpere filled the unoccupied space in the room as I struggled to open my eyes. Blurry images of my surroundings began to appear while they swirled around in my mind like a merry-go-round. The massive headache persisted as I slowly regained consciousness of the surrounding enviroment. It was a hospital room, a plain hospital with boring walls painted white. As I began to speculate why I was here, images emerged in my mind like peices of an unsolved puzzle.

Flashback~

"Yesterday's performance was dazzling!" Our exitement traveled for miles and took control of us as a few members of my dance crew and I drove down an empty street near the oceanfront. The morning breeze colided with our faces, causing strands of my hair to flutter back with the wind as the red convertable, as bright as the sun, accelerated. We shifted down the street sharing our joy from the success with the world. As devoted dancers, we had already welcomed future plans of dancing on the stages of Seoul.

"WATCH OUT!" someone screamed at the top of their lungs. A high shreik that followed captured our attention to the road. The yellow light turned red. A massive truck blocked our veiw to both the road, and our future dreams. The screeching of tires began with every endeavor to stop the rapidly vicous vehicle as marks of rubber stained the road of our paths. Depsite our efforts, gravity hauled us forward, and out our seats with peices of metal flying up into the clear skies of incheon.

End of Flashback~

"You're awake!" someone clenched and tightly held onto my callused hands. Gradually, I turned my head. The sight of my Umma's pale face faintly seperated my parched lips as I attemted to force out a few short syllable words, But instead I only managed to present a weak smile.

"Why don't you go back to rest, honey?" The shaky voice of my dad dwelled in the stillness of the room while my family looked upon me with sorrow. At the instance I sensed something was wrong. Slowly i sat up as agony from every scratch and briuse slaughtered my strengh, particularaly the one from my right knee. I threw my self at the throbbing in attempt to make it stop, only to realize that everything below the knee was wrapped up with gauzes and a metal stilt was attached to the bottom..

"Ahhh!" The terrifying horror dragged my body backwards, knocking off the syringe and shattering it to the floor.

"Yoona, I'm here." My mom hugged me, holding me tighter in her arms. I anticipated the continuation of her words. However my sobbing was the only sound continuing on through the silence of the room.

"Why is my leg bandaged up like that. And why is there a metal thing attached to my feet? Get it off!" I begged in despair as I started to panic, but everyone only responded with teary glares. My heart plunged a thousands of meters into misery as every strand of hope vanished.

"Why isn't anyone moving?" I flung my head around and widened my eyes in search if some form of speech or movement.

With droplets of crystles streaming down his face, My appa took me into his arm. "Yoona, look at me sweetie," He said calmly. "This accident caused serious injuries. We had no choice but to agree with the doctors' decision in order to save your life." I firmly gripped onto my Appa's hands and gazed into emptiness of the room as each devastating word slaughtered my fragile soul.

"Yoona, you have to stay strong" My mom shook my scrawny arms to awaken me from my horrific imagination. "You have lost your prevalige to walk. But you still have us. You will always have us." She repeated those words quite a few times.

"Just....Just leave me alone," I replied weakly. Every ounce of energy within me was gone. My despair filled the room with hopelessness and gloom. All the joy and exitement that brought my life to the fullest was gone along with my leg.
