Sirius gulped and silently, dreading what was about to happen, he followed his mother out of the room. Walburga had not uttered a single word as she swept through the many hallways of Grimmauld Place. Sirius dared to look up to see where she was taking him and he was absolutely terrified. His father's study. His father, Orion Black, was never home and if he was, you could find him holed up in his study with paperwork. He disliked being interrupted and chose to avoid Sirius's antics, but it no doubt made him angry. So, when Walburga bursts into her husband's study, Sirius expected Orion to snap, instead he looked up slowly and raised one elegant eyebrow and said, "he's ready then?"

"It's now or never, Orion. His behavior has only gotten worse. His loyalty is wavering. It is time wether he is ready or not."

Sirius, confused and terrified as he was, was still Sirius and his rebellious streak wasn't there for nothing. "I'm right here, there is no need to talk about me as if I don't have any say in this."

Instead of reprimanding Sirius's attitude, Orion smiled a cruel smile and simply said "You don't."

"Go to your father, Sirius."

Orion's wand was now out and as brave as the Gryffindor he is, being forcefully shoved into a man who is not above an unforgivable curse, was the scariest moment of Sirius's life. "Wh..What are you going to do to me?"

"Be still, Sirius."

"DON'T BLOODY TOUCH ME YOU BATSHIT CRAZY OLD HAG AND DON'T THINK I DON'T SEE YOU POINTING THAT WAND AT ME FATHER"

Sirius was horrified. He was trapped by both of his parents, his mother attempting to roll up his sleeve and his father standing over him like a looming shadow of doom. "What are they doing" Sirius thought desperately, as he struggled against his mother. He looked at his father and saw him staring at Sirius's left arm. "No" Sirius thought, they're crazy, the lot of them. Sirius struggled harder than before as he was fueled by adrenaline. They were not going to brand him. He is not evil. He will not serve that stupid man they call Lord.

"DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME"

"SIRIUS THAT IS ENOUGH" ,Orion bellowed, "you have been disgracing this family since the day you were born. Always testing limits and pushing boundaries. Your behavior is disruptive and from hereby will be set aside as you have a role to take on as heir to the black fortune. You will be a death eater. You will marry a pureblood woman. You will have a child. You will continue to let this blood remain pure and do your duty to the name Black. Toujurs Pur, Sirius. That is our motto. That is who we are. Don't forget it. Now, stick. out. your. arm."
This was the last straw for Sirius, and now his fear was replaced with anger.

"NO! I won't follow through with your crazy views on life. I will not be a prejudiced arsehole like the rest of you." And besides, Sirius added smugly, making sure to look both of his parents in their eyes, "I'm gay"

"CRUCIO!" It was his father's voice that cast the pain bearing curse. Sirius felt it before the spell was fully formed. It was pain. Withering, agonizing pain. It felt like a thousand of needles were poking at his insides as he walked through fire that burnt his skin. It felt like his very own skin was being melted and molded into a painfully twisted shape. He felt hot tears prick at his eyes and stream down his skin, only for him to realize it was blood red— his blood. It was excruciating and all Sirius could think was "death must be better than this". He could hear his mother's screams in the background, as she begged for Orion to control his temper, what if the ministry finds out.
After, 10 seconds, but what felt like 30 minutes to Sirius, the cruciatus curse was lifted, and he was left whimpering like an abused dog on the street.

"Now...say it again boy. I dare you." All Sirius could do was whimper pathetically as violent spasms rocked his body. "That's what I thought. Walburga call to Kreacher and tell him to take this sorry excuse for a son back to his room, we'll finish this conversation later."

As soon as Sirius was rudely deposited into his room. He was running around and grabbing everything he could and stuffing it into his trunk. This, this home, no, this house, is dead to him. He is leaving and will never return. Sirius was half way to the entrance hall where the fireplace and floo powder was located, when he saw a small figure creeping in the shadows. Regulus. Regulus Acturus Black. Sirius's younger brother. Regulus....Regulus will just have to take care of himself. He's the better son anyway, they won't hurt him. They were so close when they were younger...until Sirius turned out to be the white sheep in a flock of Black. Regulus has slowly been corrupted while Sirius was away at Hogwarts. His mind was slowly poisoned with all the
bigotry and hate his parents spewed into him. Even after all the taunts and jabs at each other, Sirius always loved his brother. Even if everything Reg stood for was against Sirius's belief, he would always love his brother. A mouthed "bye" and gentle wave was all Reg did. But, Sirius knew better. He could tell by Regulus's posture and eyes that he's scared and that he'll miss Sirius. Sirius smiles and reaches out to pull his brother into a tight hug. "I'll get you out Reg, I promise." Regulus just chuckled sadly and slinked back into the shadows.

"Potter Manor!" Sirius shouted once he and all his belongings were safely inside the fireplace. With one last look at Reg, he vanished with the floo powder.
