Surprisingly it only took me a half hour to get ready, face and all. I knew there would be many photos of the evening and wanted to look as fierce as possible. I ended up with a basic make up; eyeliner, red lipstick paired with a black knee length figure hugging dress and hair down with natural curls. Hopefully Fletch will have shifted his backside and gotten dressed. I unlocked the door to find him topless changing into his shirt. I couldn't help but stare for a second before retreating back to the bathroom unnoticed. I just waited a few minutes for him to finish before coming back out.
"Wow it's actually listened and is ready!" I joked with him, replying with a sarcastic laugh. Since telling him a few months back that his dress sense was well off, he'd learnt what looks good. Dare I say it He looked relatively handsome. Right cut it out Naylor.
"Wow! Sorry I mean, Ready?"I nodded back in reply picking up the key card and speech. He looked shocked, the outfit did its job.
The place was absolutely huge, not what I was expecting at all. We found our seats fairly near the front. I can tell the Fletch knew from my face that I was nervous, even though I tried my best to hide it.
"Glass of wine?" Gesturing towards the bar. I just turned and smiled, that was enough of a yes so he toodled off for a while.
"Jac Naylor is that you?" I looked round to see a face that was vaguely familiar.
"Yes it is." While she was gathered into an awkward embrace.
"You don't remember me do you? It's James Clarke, Consultant genetic Cardiothoracis from York, we trained together." It hit me. It's the creep who made a pass at me in final year. God help me. I saw Fletch out the corner of my eye. He put down the drinks so I grabbed his hand, pulling him over to me putting my arm round his waist.
"Oh yeah I remember from university. This is my partner Adrian Fletcher." Confused Looking Fletch held and hand out to shake with the odd man stood in front of him.
"Well we must get back I need to look over my speech. Nice to see you again." Walking back off to our seats, dragging Fletch behind me.
"So want to bring me up to speed? What was that?" I took a massive swig from my glass. As if today couldn't be any more stressful.
"He's a creep who tried to get me to sleep with him in final year of uni. Basically stalked me." Gulping down another large mouthful. "I needed to get away so I used you as a scapegoat, sorry about that." Relaxing slightly seeing that he was finally out of sight.
"That's fine, I've got your back."
Smiling thankfully I looked back at the speech. Just as my name was announced. Here goes nothing.
