     (Alex’s Point of View):

On instinct, I reached over and snatched a knife from the sink, and held it out as a defense weapon. My whole body was shaking, but I managed to grasp the knife with two sturdy hands. My eyes grew wide, as Rian grabbed Zack’s neck and pulled him down. He yelped in pain and sheer terror.

I scanned the disturbing creature that replaced one of my best friends, and gulped. My whole body was in shock. The only thing keeping it from breaking down was the adrenaline rush that was pumping through my veins.

Rian turned, and pressed more so down on Zack’s neck. I could see a few drops of blood oozing from underneath Rian’s hand, and I knew that he was gripping him hard enough to break skin. I waved my knife in his direction, and that awful noise escaped his throat.

“Alex. Alex. Help. Please.” Zack was basically begging me to do something to get him out from underneath Rian’s grasp. In all honesty, I didn’t know what to do. I had no idea how strong this creature was that had all of a sudden replaced him, and I couldn’t exactly think clearly since one of my best friends just transformed into a flesh eating zombie that wanted to eat me.

The creature pulled Zack’s head up towards his mouth. I watched, as it opened its mouth. All of Rian’s teeth had been replaced with a sharp, fang-like smile. I panicked. My heart was beating wildly, and I was about to throw up.

    Bang

From the opposite direction, I saw Jack smack Rian in the head with a frying pan. The creature looked disoriented for a second, before Jack hit it again. Harder this time.

“Zack is our friend.” He grabbed for Zack’s collar, while slinging the frying pan for a third time at Rian’s face. “Not food.”

I ran to the sink again, and grabbed a pot we had used earlier that day. If smacking it around a couple of times defeated it, then I could do it all day long. That’s what Xbox live was for.

“Hit him again Alex!” Jack screamed, while pulling at Zack.

I slung the pot across the room and clipped Rian’s head just in time. The creature slumped against the wall, and let go of its grasp on Zack. We pulled him up, and stumbled over to the blocked doors.

Instantly, we started pulling all the chairs and tables away, and fighting for our way out of that kitchen. Whatever was out there, had to be better then what was forming on our countertop.

Zack was withering in pain, as he pressed against the deep finger marks of Rian’s hand print around his neck. Blood was oozing down onto his shirt, as he gritted his teeth and cursed under his breath.

“Were gonna get you out of here! You hear me?” I yelled in Zack’s ear. Jack and I were pulling with all of our strength to get past all these pieces of furniture. He nodded once. I was beginning to weaken, but there was no way I was giving up.

As we cleared our path to open the door, we heard a clank of pots and pans from behind us. We all stopped for a split second, looked nervously at one another, and jumped over the chairs to reach the exit. My hand felt the handle, and I pushed it open with all my might. The door flew open and I almost fell, as I ran from the kitchen straight down the hallway to the back bedroom. That’s when I noticed that I didn’t hear anyone’s footsteps right behind mine. Stopping on my heel, I whipped around. No one was following me.

“Damnit.” I shouted, before grabbing the knife I had stored in my pants, and trudging my way back to the kitchen. I had to save them. I wasn’t going to let them die. Not now. Not ever.
