jack wasn't necessarily devastated, nor was he sad or mad at the particular incident. aspen shouldn't have even been his girlfriend from the moment she cheated on him, but he was a lovesick puppy so he couldn't see how bad it was. jack didn't even know why he was in therapy, for mr. marais to remedy his problems? no, he could do that by himself.

"jack, have you been writing in your journal?" jack bit his lip as he tried to make eye contact with mr. marais, it was a problem they combated every day. jack making eye contact with people. "yes,"

"has anything changed?" jonah asked, penning something down in the notebook he had. "no, not really, except for the fact that.."

mr. marais expectantly looked at jack, jack trying to collect his words properly. "it's just, i just keep digging a hole for myself. my job as the editor of huffington post hasn't gotten easier, my girlfriend of four years broke up with me and i'm kinda just all over the place,"

"have you told your mom yet?"

the question struck a chore in his heart, no. no he hadn't and it scared him. he had been drifting away from his mom and it scared him, she was the only person who kept him sane anymore.

"no, i-" jack stopped himself, he had no reason not to contact her. it was just his fault. "jack, try and calm yourself down and then talk to her. do something that's relaxing that stops your anxiety."

"i'm nervous?" jack echoed. about what? the twenty two year old couldn't wrap his head around the fact that he was nervous to talk to his own mom. "jack, you're pulling on the strings in your sweater and writing words on your thigh, you're nervous. go and calm yourself down and talk to her,"

jack had to reason with the professional, but why was he nervous. what was so nerve wracking about holding a conversation with his mom? instead of wondering why he was so nervous, he went to his favorite spot, corbyn's coffee shop.

as jack entered the aesthetically pleasing shop, he was greeted with warm smiles by his life long friend and owner of the coffee shop, corbyn. "jack! i haven't seen you in a while, you used to be a regular," corbyn pouted as he embraced jack.

"just sorting myself out, don't worry. soon enough i'll become a regular," jack reassured him. corbyn snorted. "sorry, jacky, zach and his friend daniel are my new favourite customers,"

jack scoffed. "did they take my spot?" corbyn laughed at his friends jealousy. "of course not! and a caramel tea?" corbyn asked, jack being the only person who ordered tea. "sure, corbs,"
