While Rae was walking up, Spencer Hendricks was making breakfast for his brother. He had woken up early to make sure that he didn't mess anything up. This was meant to be a new beginning for him. The medical campus was completely separate from where his brother would be. He would at least be free during the day.

He ran his hands through his jet black hair and waited for his brother to arrive. He knew better than to shout for him.

Eventually, Luke Hendricks walked into the room. To others, he might have seemed charming and handsome. But his smile made Spencer sick to his stomach.

"Is breakfast ready?" Luke asked.

Spencer nodded and left the room to pack his books. He couldn't wait to leave the apartment and get away from his brother. Even for a little while.

"Spencer," Luke called, "come back. Sit down."

Spencer ground his teeth but did as he was told. Disobeying his brother would be far worse.

"So," Luke said as he started to eat, "You're on a different campus to me."

"Yeah."

"So you won't be bringing me lunch then?" Luke gave Spencer a sick smile. Spencer knew it was a trick, if he said no then Luke would punish him. And if he said yes, then he'd probably end up late to more than a few classes running back and forth.

"No," he said, "I will be there. I have your timetable."

Luke nodded, "Just don't be late."

It wasn't a warning. It was a threat.

Spencer was used to this. His brother no longer had a pack. So he took all his anger out on him. He had to do everything his brother said no matter what. He didn't have a choice. His brother was his alpha. Going to a different country didn't change that.

"Spencer!" Luke interrupted his thoughts with a shout that sent Spencer toppling off his chair, "come on. I don't want to be late."

Spencer nodded and quickly grabbed Luke's books to give to him. He had to have his brother's bag packed every morning. Then he grabbed his own and tried not to seem like he wanted to sprint out the apartment.

Luckily for him, UCT Medical Campus was within a walking distance of the apartment. So he didn't have to ride the bus with his brother.

He gave his brother a fake smile and tried not to seem disgusted at the smile he got in return before walking to the campus.

*************
When he arrived, he went to reception.

"How may I help you?" The lady working there asked.

"Is it possible for me to get a map of the campus? I just transferred here and I have no idea where to go."

The lady gave him a sad smile, "I'm sorry. I just gave the last of the maps to a group of first years."

He sighed. Just his luck. Then he felt someone tap him on the shoulder.

He swung around to find a short girl with bright red, shoulder length hair. She wore ripped black jeans and an oversized David Bowie t shirt that was tucked into her jeans.

"So," the woman said, "You're New here? I'm a second year. Where do you need to go?"

He sighed in relief, "Thank you so much. My timetable says I need to be in room 18 of the Beetie building?"

The girl chuckled, "So you're a second year too? I have the same class in the building now so I'm kinda just presuming..."

"Yeah," he said, "I am."

She smiled and motioned for him to follow her out the building.

"So," she said as they began walking, "What's your name new guy? I'm Ashleigh."

"Nice to meet you Ashleigh," he said, "I'm Spencer."

"Nice to meet you too Spencer. Come on, it's just up here."

She is directed him into a tall building that had vines wrapped around it. When they reached it, she made a show of opening the door and allowing him to enter first.

He laughed. It felt good to laugh again. It felt as though he'd been living isolated from people for so long that it felt nice to have conversation with someone who might not punch him.

"So," Ashleigh began as she led him up a flight of stairs, "where are you from?"

"New York," he replied.

She looked shocked, "How the hell did you end up here?"

He couldn't exactly explain to her that his brother wanted to get away from their old pack that wanted to kill them and that South African seemed like a place their old pack wouldn't expect.

Instead he said, "Doctors from UCT are almost guaranteed a job the moment they graduate."

She nodded. By this time they ended up next to a door with said 18.

"Here we are," she said and went inside.

They took a seat together and so he began his second year of medical school.

At the end of the class, Ashleigh directed him to his next class.

"Hey Spencer," she said, "I'm guessing you don't know many people here yet?"

He shook his head and looked down. He didn't particularly like meeting new people.

"I'm going to a small restaurant with my friends after class. Why don't you join us? We have the same last class today too."

He paused. He honestly would love to. But he wasn't sure if his brother would allow it. But then he pictured getting to know nice people. People who wouldn't hurt him. People who could be his friends.

And besides, the full moon wasn't until a week so there was no reason to be home early.

"Okay," he said, "that sounds great."

Little did he know, a man named Jonathan Ford had just made the same offer to his brother.
