Ashley's POV

September of 91'

We both stared in each other's eyes and his hazel ones flashed with love and lust.

"He can't love you like I love you."

32 Hours Earlier

"Let's give it up for Sister Ashley representing Alpha Kappa Alpha!" The crowd screamed and applauded as I stepped on the podium.

The pep rally is the biggest event leading up to our HBCU homecoming, other than the football game. It takes place in the courtyard. All of the former fraternities and sororities come together to plan the Homecoming and scout for new sisters and brothers. Being the leading sister, I have more responsibility as I have to check on everything and maybe even make changes.

"Hello everyone! I'm Ashley, the big sister of Alpha Kappa Alpha and I hope you all are having fun!" The cheers and 'hell yeah's!" made me smile. "Now who are all going to the football game to support our team, including the quarterback aka my boyfriend, Gary?"  The screams got even louder. "It's tonight so make sure you get your tickets if you haven't already! My girls are selling them over to your right--" As if on que, yelling and stomping was heard and I smiled.

Gary was apart of  the Alpha Phi Alpha. We were the first of Fraternities and Sororities to be established by African Americans, ever!

Yeah, we did that!

I saw the "Men of Distinction", as they liked to be called, grouping with the others and I did one more smile, "Speaking of my man.. please excuse me!" Laughs and cat calling was thrown out as I passed by everyone to get to my boyfriend.

I covered his eyes from the back, "Guess who." Gary grabbed my hands and sniffed them, "Hmm Cocoa butter." Then he felt around to my backside, "Nice ass... Sasha!" I quickly pulled away and eyed him from the back, "Excuse me?" He turned around and laughed.

"Baby, I'm just playing around witcha'. I can never forget my girl!" I rolled my eyes, "Garfield don't try me in front of your little friends!" His frat boys laughed, "Garfield?" One of his close friends called out. "Aye, don't act like you didn't know." Then he turned to me, "Ashley you know I don't like my full name." Then I pouted, "Whyyy? It reminds me of the cat!" Gary wrapped his arm around my shoulder, "And that's why."

I just giggled at his embarrassment. We walked around the courtyard going to booths and talking about homecoming. "So, you're gonna wear that nice navy blue dress I love?" Gary whispered in my ear and I rolled my eyes. "You know that makes me uncomfortable! I'm going to wear that gown I showed you." He kissed his teeth, "None of the other girlfriend's ain't wearing no damn gown--" "Well I'm not the other girlfriend's, Gary. I'm yours and I'm not going to be uncomfortable just so I can be in the "clique" of girls." He unwrapped his arm from me.
