That night I left in my new car I went and bought a scale to start measuring and getting my product together. I went home and grabbed the duffle bag to see my new place to do business.
It was set out in the boonies and near Chang's place which was nice because knowing he had eyes around this area made me feel secure. It was a small one bedroom place. Small but large enough to get the job done. I talked to Chang and he said he'd prefer me to not do the exchange here and just do my job in the car because people could rat me out and not only get me in trouble but the landlord as well. I got this place for free because the owner owed the brothers a favor. But it wouldn't be free for long. Only til I could start paying for it. Just like my car.
It was nice. Real nice. I figured after a couple of weeks of doing this, I'd move in without looking suspicious. I'd just tell my family that my job pays me well enough for me to go on my own and give them some side cash.
I threw my bag onto the kitchen counter and began to measure all of my stuff for my customers. I only had four tonight which was okay for me. Three of them wanted an ounce and the last one wanted two grams. It was about 400 I would make. That was easy money and a lot of it.
When I packed it all up, I got in my car and called the people to get their addresses. The first one was easy we said hello and exchanged names. He was around his 20s and was really skinny looking, I figured weed wasn't the only thing he smoked. Judging by how he picked at his arms. I was a bit uncomfortable, but I went with it.
The next one was a pregnant lady. I didn't have the heart to sell it to her. What was she thinking?
"Names Arc, what's yours?" I extended my hand out to her.
"I'm Carey." She smiled softly at me. Her bright blonde hair shimmered under the street light. She placed her hand in mine and we did a quick shake before she placed it back on her tiny round belly.
"You shouldn't be smoking yanno?" I felt weird having to scold her. I didn't know her and in this line of work I figured it was best just not to care. But I wasn't that type of person.
"Oh I don't. Its my boyfriend. He flips it to make some side cash. He does it under the radar. He couldn't get in contact with the-" she looked around as if someone were listening in before continuing, "brotherhood" she whispered.
"I hope he's not stepping on your territory. If he is I'll tell him to stop. We don't want trouble. I always worry about that. Cops let you off with a slap on the wrist but there are scarier people than them and I don't want to piss them off." I could tell she was nervous. She didn't know me and I didn't know her. She wanted reassurance from me but I wasn't the person who should offer it.
"Well you certainly aren't stepping on my toes darling so don't worry about it." I handed her the bag that had her package.
"Thank you. Its just hard out here, trying to do things the right way and take care of the ones you love on what little you earn."
"You don't have to tell me." I gave her a smile and she handed me the money and then I left.
My next customer had told me to hurry while on my way to my other one's house. So I figured I'd knock him off my to do list on the way there. When I arrived there was no one outside like they had told me they were going to do. So I waited a while and then someone jumped in the back of my car. I felt cold metal press to my head.
"Give me the weed." Was all they said and I knew it was a set up. My heart felt like it was about to burst out of my chest, I was so scared that I couldn't move. Then they gave the gun a shove to my head.
