"Your birthday is so close! Two days Alex, oh you're gonna be twenty, I can't wait!" I laughed as my mom went on and on about how 'grown up' I was becoming. I am a working model for Marc Jacobs, which means they've curved me out just right with trainers and such. My father hasn't seen me since... well... I'm not sure.

"Yes mum, I know. I can't wait either. I think Maddi and Mira have a gift for me, I'm not sure." Maddi walked into the room and giggled while I talked on the phone and Mira brushed my hair. I was getting ready for a show right now, and one that was a big rig. Is gonna get me three month's rent at the penthouse my friends and I share.

"I have to go mum, I'm getting ready." I said and she told me how much she loved me. I hung up.

"Okay, here, run on the tele." I said to Maddi. She was already dressed and ready to go, and she flipped on the news.

"In other news, hit band One Direction is coming to NYC in only two days! Harry Styles is single again, and Niall Horan is searching for a fan. Can NYC be their place?" The news reporter said. I loved the band, not because they used to be my friends, but because they have good music too.

"After the show, we got a present to give you. It's early but we have to get it to you before so you can get ready for it." Mira said, and set an envelope on the makeup mirror in front of us.

"Please just... don't open it." she said and laughed as she finished up a barrel curl to my new red-brown hair. It reminded me of autumn leaves. I liked it. She brushed through the curls and made a beach-wave effect.

She put some odd makeup on me and high-waisted shorts. Then, and a tribal print shirt that was tied at the bottom. It said "stay weird" in print upside down.

I'll admit, I was pretty good-looking. And Maddi had long, brown hair with ginger ombré. That paired with long eyelashes and blue eyes, she pulled off anything. Mira had her in a mint green lace bathing suit top, covered with a jean jacket. Her pants were dip-dyed mint green jean shorts.

I stood and Mira touched my hair, fluffed it, brushed my fringe on the left side of my face, adjusted my sidebangs, and told me to get in line. Maddi and I stood behind other models, waiting to walk the runway.

I heard some muttering an a coughing noise. "Bitch," was said by one of the other models. As usual I ignored the others and did as I usually do, walk like a superstar and act like I'm fine.

But I had something else on my mind. I was being given a birthday present, and I was actually really excited. It was funny because I never really got excited for these things, I just acted indifferent because most of the time it was still just money from my mom. Even though I don't need it, sometimes she still sends it to me.

They called my name and the products I was wearing on the runway, then they said "stylist Mira Thomas" and I took the stage. I sashayed my way down the aisle and did a little pose at the end, which I was signature for.

As I made my way back I watched Maddi next to me, who winked those crystal eyes of hers, earning some extra cheers. I giggles to myself and entered stage right back to the dressing room.

I was given the envelope after Madison came back. It wasn't like I didn't know where it was before, They had shown me it earlier. But now Mira was insisting on me opening it, unlike earlier.

"See, open!" Mira laughed and she practically jumped around the room in excitement.

"Okay, okay, calm down." I relaxed into my chair, while Maddi sucked on a cherry lollipop. I stared at her for a moment and then stuck my fingernail under the flap.

"Come on, we don't have all night!" Mira scolded. I flashed her my middle finger and tore open the envelope to see three tickets.

Three tickets to see One Direction.

To see them tomorrow.

I looked up at the brunette and gave her the death glare. They were first row tickets with VIP backstage passes. I was absolutely not ready to see Harry again. Not after what had happened.

My brother was even with him in that stupid band. And my father... He's god knows where. I wasn't planning on seeing him again. I didn't want to see Harry. But I did.

I looked back down at my hands, which were trembling. I pressed one to my face, and felt it wet. I was crying?

I couldn't have been crying. That crap was behind us, in the past. I still resented Harry. My Hazza.

I can't believe I just thought that. He's not my Hazza Bear anymore. He's just a stranger, some guy in a band. I'm going crazy. Just... Just some guy in a band that's all. One Direction, of all bands.

I combed my hand through my bangs, which I did when I was nervous.

"You okay?" Mira asked, placing a hand on my shoulder. That gesture brought me back to reality. I bobbed my head in response.

"Just shocked, that's all. Thanks you guys, you're amazing." I brought them both in for a hug. I cherished the moment. The smell of perfume, and my best friends' hair. It was all enough to overwhelm me.

"Now," said Mira. "Let's get home, we've got things to buy, and sleep to have."

I laughed at her, she was always odd when she was excited. And, for once, I think I was a bit excited too.
