Mateo's dad Jon.....

Jayden's POV

"I remember what I saw. I remember what I saw." I said repeatedly. Absentmindedly about to swerve off the road, Now focusing on the road behind me was a police car flashing his bright lit red and blue lights. Pulling off into the side of the road, I readied myself and my license. I rolled my window down.

"Good afternoon sir. I pulled you off the road for speeding and almost swerving off the road." The police officer said animatedly.

"I'm very sorry sir. Would you like to have my license and registration?" I said remembering what my father taught me.

"Yes, sir I would." He said examining booklet. "From what I'm seeing here you're seventeen?"

"Yes, sir I am seventeen," I said.

"Not to be intrusive however aren't you supposed to be in school right now."

"I am sir but I'm currently not feeling well so I left and if you'd like I can contact my mother for verification."

"No that won't be necessary. Here is your license and drive safely okay." He said handing over the ID card.

"Okay, thank you."

I drove home. Sighing I got into my house. Looked around the house to check if anyone was at home. As usual, there wasn't anyone here. I went to the kitchen got my juice and made toasted peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I'm such a good chef.

Going up to my room a knock came bellowing through the empty house. Me being me I went to the door opening it without thinking and there stood my best friend Xena. I smiled at her and then realized the boiling question in my mind was, why was she here? As if sensing my confusion she asked to come in and I allowed her in.

"So... this is the place it all happened huh?" She asked.

"What?" I asked weirdly. Still eating my sandwiches.

"You know, you grew up here and all."

"Yeah, I guess," I said before there was a long pause. "Sooooooo why are you here and how do you know where I live?" I asked warily.

"Oh, Theo gave me the address and come on I have nothing to do and we both went out of school pretty early and also I forgot my keys." She said with a duh tone.

"Anyway let's go to my room it's much better with a bed," I said pointing up the stairs.

"At least buy me dinner first you pig." She pretends to scoff but it came out more of a cackle?

I rolled my eyes and said, "No offense girly I like you as a friend and that's it."

"Hashtag shady queen of the century and btw's I knew that. I know I'm a cute bitch so if you were into me you would have slid into my DM's at least the second day we've known each other." She said flipping her waist length curly Afro hair.

She was right I have at least tried to get with her even though I'm not popular at school I could have at least tried with the one person who talks. But the only thing wrong is that I couldn't imagine anyone else but Theo.

"Hey don't think about it too hard. For a consolation prize, I don't like you either." She said shrugging.

"Gasp, ouch. Hurt feelings, sniffles." I said sarcastically.

"Anyway walk your fat ass up the stairs." She said rolling her eyes.

We got up to my room and as soon I closed the door and I said: "We need to talk."
