My Sole Request

To the person I love
I am scared. Of everything. I am scared of disapproval and rejection. I am scared of life and I am scared of death. Yet you make that fear go away.
You make me so happy that I forget those fears. I would be willing to jump out of a plane if you were just to hold my hand for the fall. You're my biggest confidence booster.
In the same light, though, you're my biggest pain. You leave me up at night, soaking my pillows with tears; my heart constricted by a pain that can only be equal to barbed wire- that's been rusted, soaked in gasoline, and then lit on fire.  Yet I love you. You can drag me through hell, dirt, mud, shit. You name it, if you're there, I'm there. And this commitment...to say the least, it scares me.
But you bring upon me confidence in the smile I love so much. Your realistic thinking and negotiation help me to understand who I am and who I want to be. You make me so happy. You make me proud. My fears only extend to the future and the unknown. They do not extend to holding your hand, or kissing you, or giving you everything I could possibly offer.
So please do the same for me. Trust me. Love me. Hold me close in good times and closer in bad. And I will promise you the same for the rest of my tomorrows.
So fall in love with me. Smile at me when I'm laughing and crying. Hold on tight and don't let go because I promise I am worth the fight. That is my sole request.
