Promises

Prologue

~~~Willa Barringer's POV~~~

I looked up in horror at the scene in front of me. Dark grey smoke with ashes filled the air. A giant hand grabbed the wall as a head slowly rises above it, it's eyes piercing right through us and a mouth so big, it could fit this entire town in it. My eyes widened.

"No......" I shook my head in disbelief, stepping back. I quickly turned around, trying to find my brother, Tyler and my sister, Mackenzie. Everyone was too frozen to move, so I ran through the crowd to find my family. Many faces entered and left my sight, until I finally found Tyler. I ran up to him as he started to panic.

"It's gonna break the wall...." He muttered. I turned back to the wall. The titan leaned back a little. Within seconds, there was a noise so loud it sounded like 15 cannons firing simultaneously.

"THEY BROKE THROUGH SHIGANSHINA!!!" Someone yelled, followed by a stampede of panicked civilians. Tyler took my wrist and ran. I was too terrified to run after. Giant boulders came hurtling towards us, landing on houses, markets, animals, and people. I came back to reality and looked at Tyler who was dragging me with him.

"OUR HOUSE TYLER!!" I screamed over the noise. Tyler looked back and nodded, taking me a different way. Tears ran down my cheeks leaving glistening lines. Path by path, we made it to our house to find it completely destroyed. I gasped and ran over to the mess, leaving Tyler's grip. What was once my home is now wooden and stone ruble covered in blood. I covered my mouth and screwed my eyes shut, sobbing into my hands.

"They're gone.......all of them.......god dammit" Tyler whispered. He looked at me and took my hand, "We have to go, Willa." I hesitated for a moment. With guilt covering my heart, I followed Tyler. We ran, joining the crowd on the main road leading to the door into Wall Maria. We didn't speak until we were past the huge wall. However we kept running when we saw boats loading to bring us to the Trost District north of here. I stopped in my tracks when I felt pounding getting closer and closer. I looked back at Wall Maria just in time to see more debris and boulders get sent flying. A huge titan that looked like it had armour on looked up and let out hot gas.

"GO!!!" People yelled, shoving past each other. I looked up to see a rock coming in our direction.

"WILLA GO NOW!!" Tyler yelled, then took me by my shirt and threw me with all his strength. The rock came crashing down onto Tyler and his blood sprayed everywhere, painting the stone path.

"TYLER NO!!!" I screamed. An arm picked me up by the waist and threw me over their shoulder, "LET ME GO!!!" I yelled, hitting the guys back. His jacket had 2 wings on it. One white and one blue. The Wings of Freedom.

"TYLER'S GONE!!! BUT YOU HAVE TO KEEP MOVING, WILLA!!!" He screamed back. How does he know me and my brothers name??? I thought. The last thing I saw was the blood stained rock Tyler was crushed under.....
