"Did you have time to look around the place last night?" Bata Collins asked as we walked up to the door of my now home.
"I ah, never moved from the entrance area." I looking away not wanting him to see the guilt I felt. I didn't want him to think I didn't appreciate a place to live. Whether it felt like a prison or not. To be honest it was better than being a rogue, constantly having to move place to place never getting to settle in one place for long.
"It really isn't as bad as you would think. I'll come in, and show you around." I looked up confused by why he would even care. I was so beneath him, I was beneath everyone now. His exterior was beyond intimidating, but the way he talked was anything but that.
"You don't need to do that, I'm sure you have better things to do. I'm a prisoner, not here visiting. " I didn't want him to feel he had to do anything that could take up his time. I know being a Beta was a lot of work.
"You aren't a prisoner, its just a precaution till we know you aren't a threat." We had now stopped in front of the door. The look on his face was almost as though he said to much.
"I would never hurt someone on purpose. I can't even kill a bug without feeling guilty I took a life." I nervously laugh looking downward.
He didn't say anything he just unlocking the door walking in. I followed him as he turned a light on. My bag was still lying in the middle of the floor where I had slept. Some blood was on my bag including the wall, and floor. I saw him grimace, he walked over to the bag picking it up. I followed him silently as he turned lights on. Looking around it really did look like an apartment. Small kitchen with a counter separating the living room. There was furniture set up around the room. The only thing giving away that this wasn't a real home was the concrete floors and the bars you could see on the outside on the windows.
"The bedroom is over here." He motioned to a spot on the other side of the fridge as he kept walking. I took a few steps seeing a door he was now opening.
I walked in the room as he was setting my bag on the bed. Surprisingly the bed was huge, and looked like is would be amazing to sleep on. The room looked as cold as the rest of the house, but had the things most rooms would have. Night stands with lamps, a dresser, and a closet.
"I don't know how long you will be here, that's not for me to decide. If while you are here you need anything don't be afraid to ask." I made a face like that wouldn't be happening. My face couldn't handle much more abuse.
"I'd rather not make my face any worse than it already is." I said calmly, while still standing in the doorway, I heard him sigh.
"I'm sorry about Hayden he has a temper, and he's used to dealing with prisoners who have committed horrible crimes. It doesn't make it right, and I will be having a word with Alpha Stone when he returns." I looked up to see Beta Collins walking towards me. "I promise I will try, and make sure he will no longer be helping with taking you to, and from places." He slightly smiled while I saw guilt in his eyes. For being second in command he didn't hide the emotions in his eyes very well.
"Thank you." I was still looking up into his eye's. The scar across his eye looking deeper up close. It was very intimidating looking at him. "Ah... by chance is there actually food in that fridge?" I asked trying to think of anything to get rid of the awkward silence.
"Yes, I made sure to have it filled before you arrived." He furrowed his eye brows as he spoke. "You really never left the front door?" I backed away looking down his tone changing to irritation, and slight anger.
"It was all a lot to take in. I didn't know when coming here I was being locked up. I was thrown in here in the dark, and locked in." I spoke while taking a few step away from him after my heated tone. He sighed making me look back up at him. He was pinching the bridge of his nose between his eyes where a pressure point was.
