"What?" Nate turned around to look at you. You started, "Look, this rock." "XII, what about it?" Nate questioned. "It doesn't seem like the other rocks in the wall. It's sticking out a bit more than the others." You answered. You both locked eyes for a second when Nate turned to look at the rock. He pulled on the rock. It slid out of the wall. You looked up at Nate and smiled excitedly. He did the same. "You do the honors, m'lady?" Nate bowed then pointed his hand toward the rock. You chuckled, "Why thank you, good sir" You bowed back and squatted down to reach inside the rock. Nate watched you. "Wait, I- I feel something." You said as you touched an item in the rock. You pulled it out. Nate gasped. You smiled gently and handed the cross to Nate. "Well, would you look at that." Nate said examining the cross. You turned the cross upside down in Nate's hand. "Digna Factis Recipimus." You both said reading the text of the back of the cross. You smiled at each other. You reached into the hole again. You waved your hand around the hole. You backed away from the hole and stood up. "Hm. I guess that was it." You said while turning to Nate. "All right. Time to head back." He said, sighing. You nodded and followed him.

-Back at the prison site- Nate jumped down from the roof above the prison where Vargas was waiting. You dropped down after. He placed his hand on your waist to catch you when you landed. You both blushed and smiled. Vargas looked at the two of you. "You made it. What'd you find?" He said. You looked at Nate as he looked at the floor. "Follow my lead." He whispered. You looked at him wide-eyed. He stayed silent for a few seconds. "Anyone?" Vargas spoke and you flinched slightly. Nate sighed and turned around. You stayed facing away from Vargas until Nate spoke. He walked toward Vargas. "What?" Vargas said starting sounding impatient. You looked up at the roof you jumped through then turned around when Nate spoke, "Place was picked clean. If there's a clue hidden up there somewhere, we couldn't find it." Nate looked at you as you walked towards him and Vargas. You nodded your head and looked at Vargas. "Are you sure? Were you looking in the right place?" Vargas looked at you when Nate looked at the tower. "You know maybe we just... we missed something in the letter." You said following what Nate was doing. "Yeah, I mean there could have been another tower that collapsed centuries ago, right?" Nate said and turned back to you. "Exactly." You responded. "Mierda." Vargas exclaimed. "There ah, any plans to this place? You know, like blueprints? Nate asked Vargas. You crossed your arms. "Ah, could be, there's a bunch of old files." Vargas replied. "Okay, great. Great. Go look through those. Okay, see what you can dig up." Nate said. "Meanwhile, we'll talk to Sam. He's our Avery expert. Maybe he can make sense of this whole mess." You added. Nate nodded. "Right. I'll look to the files." Vargas said. "Yeah." Nate agreed. "Turn around. Both of you." Vargas commanded. You turned around, as did Nate. You crossed your arms behind you so Vargas could handcuff you. Vargas grabbed Nate with one hand while he grabbed you with the other. He pushed you two throw the hallways. You looked at Nate worried. He smiled gently to reassure you. You smiled back. You looked at him for a second then looked down. Nate continued to look at you when Vargas aggressively pushed you both back into the prison yard. "All right. When you're done talking to him, come and find me." Vargas whispered as he uncuffed you both. "You got it." Nate whispered back. Vargas pushed you both father into the yard. You grunted. "Gringos, if I catch you fighting one more time, one week into the hole for you two!" Vargas yelled. He walked away. "That's some nice acting, Vargas." You said smiling and looking down. "Ha, almost as good as ours." You laughed and softly pushed Nate. He laughed while you two walked down the stairs. You both walked towards Sam and saw him playing a game with fellow inmates. "Ha-" Sam exclaimed. "Mierda." A prisoner yelled. "Que puedo decir? Suerte de principiante verdad." Sam teased. "Hijo de puta." A prisoner exclaimed. "Lo siento, chicos, tengo que irme." Sam excused himself from the game. "Claro, te vas cuando estas ganando." A prisoner says. "Para ti." Sam said while walking away. He grabbed a cigarette and lit it while he walked toward you and Nate. "Jesus, they worked you over good. You all right?" Sam asked Nate. "Well, Y/N practically kicked his ass for me." Nate said looking at you. You smiled. "Haha, nice." Sam laughed and put his hand up hinting for a high five. You laughed and high fived Sam. Nate smiled. "C'mon." Said Nate walking the other direction. "Hey, woah, woah, woah. You're not gonna keep me in suspense are you?" Sam said following Nate and looking at you. "You were right." Nate said and continued to walk. You looked at Sam and ran over to Nate. You heard Sam chuckle as he turned around. "Right about what exactly?" You whispered to Nate. "The cross. And Vargas." Nate whispered and smiled. "No, you were right. Now we just gotta find Rafe and-" Sam was interrupted by Nate. "Ah, Rafe." Nate rolled his eyes. You just listened. "Don't, don't start. Please?" Sam pleaded. "Oh, c'mon. Like you said, we did this. Y/N, you, and me." Nate said pointed pointing at the three of you. "Yeah, I agree. I mean, this rich asshole comes in on the tail end..." You said. "How long have we been trying to get in here? Hm?" Sam asked. "We had some leads." Nate answered. "No, we didn't. Okay? Not one. So like it or not, no Rafe. No Vargas. And no getting in here." Sam responded. "Yeah, speaking of Vargas..." You said. "Yeah. We got a problem." Nate finished your sentence. "What kind of problem? Did he let you into the old prison?" Rafe said walking in your conversation. "Yeah- well, it wasn't just me, Y/N came too. But yeah, yeah he did." Nate answered. "All right." Rafe said looking at you. "After he read the letter, though." You said. "Oh. Hm. So how much does he know?" Rafe said looking down. "Enough that he wants a cut." Nate replied. "Ah, shit. Rafe, if anyone else finds out about this-" Sam was interrupted. "I'll- I'll work it out with Vargas, don't sweat it. Right now, let's just- let's just get on to more important matters." Rafe said. "All right. Let's find somewhere a little more ah, private." Nate said and looked at you. You smiled at him. He returned the smile. "Yep." Rafe said. You walked next to Nate and overheard Sam and Rafe whispering. "Hehe." Rafe laughed. "What?" Sam asked. "You see that?" Rafe answered. "Y?N and Nathan? What about them?" Sam questioned. "The way they look at each other." Rafe said. "Ah. He likes her." Sam said. "Or she likes him." Rafe told Sam. "Or... both." Sam said taking a puff of his cigarette. You smiled gently. Nate turned around to look at them. They smiled and snickered. You looked back at them after Nate. They stopped smiling and pretending like nothing happened. You gave a them a 'I'm warning you' look.

You all walked into the prison's laundry room. Sam checked one aisle of the room while you continued to follow Nate. "All right, coast is clear." Sam said. "Okay. So, what'd we got?" Rafe asked. Nate pulled the cross out of his back pocket. "Ooh, shit." Sam exclaimed. Rafe reached for the cross in Nate's hands. "Huh- hey!" Nate pulled the cross away from him. "May I?" Rafe asked. "Just be careful, okay?" Nate handed the cross to Rafe gently. "Wood with gold and silver inlay. It's well made. It's hollow. Why would one of Avery's men go through the trouble of hiding a cheap crucifix? Rafe asked. "It's not a crucifix." You said. Nate looked at you. "Heh, yeah. Technically, a crucifix is a representation of Jesus. That's not Jesus." Nate explained. "Well, you're right. No crown of thorns, he's tied to the cross. Well, if it's not Jesus then-" Rafe said. "Read the inscription." You said. Rafe turned over the cross. "Uh, 'Digna Factis Recipimus'. We receive-" Rafe tried to translate it. "We receive the due rewards of our deeds." Sam translated. "Yeah." Nate said. "Look at you." Rafe said to Sam. "There's a benefit of growing up in a Catholic orphanage with these two." Sam pointed at you and Nate.

-FLASHBACK-           14 years old. 10 years in a Catholic orphanage. The boys' room was across from the girls'. You were reading on your bed when you saw a fellow orphan sneaking out the window. You run to him. "Hey. Where are you going?" You whispered from the doorway. The boy gasped. "Hey, you wanna get out of here?" He asked. "I wouldn't mind." You told him. He signaled for you to go to him. You looked behind you and ran quietly to him. He let you pass first, so you climbed out the window. He looked behind him then jumped out the window. You noticed bruises and scrapes on his face. "Hey. Are you okay?" You asked. "Yeah, why?" He asked. You pointed at a bruise near his eye on his face. "Oh, t-that's nothing." He stuttered. "I know something is wrong, but I'll drop it if you don't want to talk about it." You said. "Thanks. Hey, I never caught your name." He said. "Oh, it's Y/N." You answered, smiling. "I'm Nathan, you can call me Nate." Nate said. "Got it. So where we going?" You asked. 'My brother, Sam." He answered, pointing to his brother at another part of the orphanage.   -SKIP SOME TIME-     "Hey, nice job back there." Nathan said, panting. "Thanks." You smiled and panted. Nate looked at you for some time before his brother called him over. He showed him a motorcycle you had assumed he bought for them. They got on the bike. "Sam, what about her?" Nate asked Sam. They both looked at you. "I'm sure there's room for one more person." Sam said. Nate smiled and motioned for you to hop onto the bike. You just barely fit on it. Nate explained everything about him and his family to you on the ride to the person who bought their mother's stuff's house.
