When I got home I ran upstairs to find my mother lying in bed reading some book about life. I stood in front of her for a moment but she acted like I wasn’t there, so I did the rational thing.

“MOM!” I yelled waving my arms, causing her laugh to echo the room. She gently sat her book on her lap and look up at me.

“How was work Al?” She motioned for me to sit on the bed next to her.

I slowly crawled up next to her crossing my legs, and pulling the hem of my shirt down to prevent it from rising. I looked up and tried my best to look distraught.

“Mom some of my friends invited me to a show of theirs tomorrow at 3’olock but they want to get me at 10’oclock in the morning.” I blurted out saying the time more hushed than the other words that were spewing out of my mouth. I knew they weren’t real friends but hey my mom doesn’t need to know that. I just needed a break from cleaning.

My mother looked at me surprised. I don’t have many friends. I actually have one, but she moved this passed month to Denver. I have very bad anxiety and I’m recovering from an incident a few months back so me finding friends is almost unheard of.

She thought for a good five minutes. This chick was killing me. I needed an answer, the right answer. After what seemed like years she finally parted her lips and spoke.

“You need to help Nana, but I get it you gave friends SO since I’m off-” I cut her off with a hug. She smiled her perfectly straight smile and kissed the top of my head.

***Next morning***

I woke up at 8:00am and began getting ready. I hopped in the shower turning on the hot water and washed my body. I shaved my arm pits and legs while humming some song I heard in a shop. I got out and dried my hair and did my makeup- not too much but just enough to cover facial blemishes. I had put on ripped black storckings, jeans shorts, a simple white baggy v-neck tucked in at the front, a thrift store cardigan, and my favorite DM’s.

As soon as I finished I heard my phone buzz

Nash: Address? :)

I replied a few moments later with my address and waited downstairs. It was now 9:52 and I heard my door bell ring. My stomach had butterflies of excitement twirling inside. Not because I was going to be with boys but because I actually had plans!

“Hey!” I spoke opening the door to a nicely dressed guy that I have not met, slightly confused.

“I’m Taylor, I needed to get out of that car… Matt just ripped one.” I laughed and his blunt answer and stepped outside following him to a packed car.

I got a mix of greetings when Taylor opened the car and I slipped into the back. I got introduced to many more unfamiliar faces. So now I know Nash, Carter, Jack G, Jack J, Taylor, and Matthew. The funny thing is, is that there are more of them.

“I’m Alice” my cheeks flushed a light pink as I spoke.

They all included my in their conversations and made me laugh. We finally pulled up to the venue and filed out of the car me being last. As I got out of the car I trip over a bag and fell into Jack G completely knocking us over. I turned a dark red and stood up.

“I’m so sorry!” I said helping him get up, his knee was slightly scraped.

“Don’t worry about it!” He laughed and fixed a piece of my hair. I smiled up at him.

“Thank you.” I blushed and followed them into the building.

I got handed a VIP lanyard and stayed behind them all, so I wasn’t in the way. They sat me in the front row for sound check, a few other girls were seated behind me, who I guess had bought there pass. There was in total 10 boys standing on the stage just being goofy and it was all kind of cute. When sound check was over we all head to the meet and great positions.

“Okay Alice wanna take a seat over there?” Nash pointed to a table not far from the back drops. I nodded and climbed up onto the table. I pulled out my phone and did some research on the ‘magcon’ family. They seem pretty cool but kind of full of themselves which is a total turn off. I hadn’t realized that Carter was now in front of me.

“you looked lonely and we don’t have too many fans left want to go meet us by the stage?” He said sympathetically and I once again nodded. I walked out and overheard Taylor saying something to Cameron.

“She is very weird, It's almost like she doesn't even care what Nash did for her... shes ungrateful.” I was slightly offended and didn’t want to make a scene.

I waited for Nash to be done with his fan and called him over.

“Hey I’m just going to head home. Thank you for today it was really fun.” Before he could answer I was already walking away flustered and upset.

I had almost reached the exit when a hand tapped my shoulder. I composed myself and turned around. It was Matthew, his cheeks were so cute.

“Are you okay? You should really stay for the show!” I shook my head at his words

“No that’s okay, I need to get home.” I responded trying to sound busy. He let out a deep laugh.

“How do you expect to get home without a ride?” he smirked and laughed some more. He was right, I had no money or a ride. I looked him in his soft eyes that were smiling at me.

“Fine.” I said slightly dreadful about going back with him.  I really did not want to seem ungrateful but I’m just an awkward person.

“So why were you really leaving?” He looked back at me placing one hand on my forearm making my stomach turn. I suddenly felt light headed from lack of food.

I explained what I had heard and a frown crossed his features. He looked over his shoulder as if he was making sure nobody was behind us.

“They are both just cocky.” He laughed and I did too. I began to fade in and out of what seemed to be darkness.

“Are you okay?” Matthew asked concerned.
