Have you ever seen a butterfly, dear reader?
Butterflies are exquisite creatures. On light wings, they flutter from flower to flower. They are fast, delicate creatures, enjoyed by all.
But they have one flaw : they themselves are unable to see the beauty they possess.
They live their whole lives unaware of the intricate beauty painted upon their delicate wings by some supernatural hand.
Everyone can see their beauty...except them.
There are many individuals out there in our vast world, going about their lives just like butterflies. They are unaware of the potential they posses, the amazing talent they have.
This story is an example of an individual tortured by people who made her only see the negative things about herself; she died not seeing the potential she had locked away, the beauty she hid under dark clothes and makeup.
This story is, for many people, a true one; there hundreds of people who have taken their life because of the words of others.
Writing this, I look at some of my close friends - ones who are doing the same thing as the character in this short story is doing to themselves. They are often detached, not wanting to mix with others.
I pray that their lives, as well as countless others, are not extinguished by the negative words of others.
I am often unable to help my friends, because I cannot relate to their feelings or their actions; however, I know that the source for all the misery is negative words and thoughts.
If we can work together and be positive, maybe we can help save lives; a small action can go a long way.
