Chapter 4 : Blueberry muffins, Strawberry tarts and Cup noodles

"Here, I know this isn't much, but the only thing I have in my cupboard are cup noodles at the moment," I apologised, handing him the warm noodles.

"Um-"

"The coffee will be ready in a minute. What kind of coffee do you like? Latte? Americano- oh wait, never-mind, I only have espresso, but there's milk and sugar here if you want..."

"Hey, I'm-"

"Oh! I have a few blueberry muffins here if you as well....my, my look at this, I also have strawberry tarts from Patisserie Valerie! Have you tried them? They're really nice...."

I took the strawberry tarts out of the fridge and placed them onto a small plate. I strolled towards the table and placed the plate and blueberry muffins on top of it. I turned towards Von who was standing awkwardly in front of the window.

"What's wrong, Von? Are you uncomfortable? I would offer you a place to sit but apparently my apartment is too dusty for you." I sighed, resting my cheek on top of my hand.

"Oh, the coffee's done. Let me get it-" As I was about to stand up, Von was already heading towards the kettle.

"Don't worry about it. It's the least I can do in return of your very hospitable treatment." 

He forced a smile before making his coffee. I chuckled to myself as I realised how childish I was being. 

"Sorry, I'm being too childish," I laughed embarrassingly, hiding my face in my hands. I heard two glasses being set down on the table and I peeked through my fingers. A small smile was visible on Von's face, and that made me smile even wider like an idiot. I grabbed the cup of coffee and turned on the tv. 

"So....how're you feeling?" Von asked, taking a sip of his coffee. I only hummed in response and kept staring at the tv. Noticing the hint I dropped, he stopped talking. There was only silence between us as we ate the blueberry muffins and the strawberry tarts, but for some reason, it felt like I was eating with an old friend.
