"Y/n! Get your apron on and get to work!" Y/n ran through the diner to the back where only the workers were allowed to go and grabbed her uniform and apron and quickly buttoned it over her tank top and shorts. She replaced her shoes with her vintage looking roller skates and carefully walked to the kitchen from the dressing room.
"Hey Nona." Y/n said huffing and carefully leaning up against the counter.
"Girl! Make yourself useful and go wait some tables." She said cutting up the onion into slices.
"I know.." She said walking to the front of the restaurant and stood at the bar.
"Hi! Welcome to Nona's Diner, what can I get you today?" She said walking up to a man who was playing on his computer.
"A coffee and an order of fries please." He said not looking up from his computer.
"Coming right up sir." She said before turning around and sliding the ticket over the window to the cook. She pulled a cup from the shelf and filled it with the hot liquid before spinning around and handing it to him. She put sugar on the bar along with a bottle of creamer before going out of the bar to a table.
"Hi! Welcome to Nona's diner, can I start y'all off with some drinks?" She said pulling out her notepad.
she repeated the same phrase at least 30 times.
"Y/n, i need you to close tonight. I'm babysitting my neighbor's daughter who has the flu." she said laying her rag on the table.
"Um... Sure Nona." she said putting the dirty dishes in the sink.
Within the next thirty minutes all the customers had left and y/n sat alone in the kitchen scrubbing the dirty dishes when she heard the doors open and a bunch of chattering. She looked at the clock and saw that it was five minutes before closing. She walked out to see a group of about ten people. The first one took his hat off.
"I'm sorry to disturb you miss, but no where else is opened at 11:55 and we are just looking for a quick eat." y/n smiled at the group and took them to the table.
"Its fine! I'm glad to keep it open for y'all." She said before walking behind the bar and grabbing a few menus.
"It may take a while because I'm the only one here so I will try my best." She said handing each of them the menus.
"That's fine." they said looking over the menus.
"So... What would y'all like to drink?" Y/n said pulling her notepad out.
"We would all like vanilla milkshakes." A boy with curly brown hair said.
"Okay. That's easy enough." Y/n said before skating behind the counter and pulling out 13 cups.
She filled each of them with the treat and put them on the counter. She took them to the table in groups and then took their orders. She was making a large basket of fries when she heard t@he group chattering.
"So... The waitress is pretty cute, eh?"
Y/n blushed to herself.
"Finn!" A british voice rang out which took y/n by surprise.
"Isn't she?!" He said slightly louder causing all the boys to smirk.
Y/n was now peeking through the small window they passed food through. Y/n took the fries out and put them in the basket. she took the fries out to the large group of kids and went behind the bar.
"Hey!" One of the kids said causing y/n to turn around.
"you wanna sit down with us?" The boy known as Finn said.
"Um... I'm not allowed to." Y/n said picking her nails which she tended to do when she was nervous.
"No one's here." He said looking around at the rest of the people at the table who were all looking in different directions waiting on her response.
"Finn, don't get her in trouble. I don't think you wanna be the reason she gets fired." A shorter boy said.
Y/n blushed and picked more at her fingers when she saw the curly black haired boy from earlier eyeing her. He was pretty cute. He had brown eyes and a really nice jawline. Curly black hair. He was... Very attractive.
She smiled at him and he smiled back. Finn looked between the boy and the girl watching them have their moment. So was everyone else but they didnt really notice until Finn quit talking.
"His names Lucas, by the way." the smaller boy spoke smiling at Lucas.
"My names Jack, this is Noah, Millie, Amybeth, Louis, Sadie, Dalila, Kula, Cory, Finn, Lucas, Aymeric, and Lila. Did you get all that?" he said making everybody laugh.
"yeah. My name is Y/n." She said playing with the hem of her skirt.
"Nice to meet you." Millie said with a thick british accent.
"you too." y/n said before taking their dirty dishes to the back and placing them in the sink. She grabbed a rag off of the counter and walked over to one of the tables and started to wipe it down.
"They make you skate everywhere you go?!" Sadie said noticing y/n's shoes.
"Uh... Yeah. It is supposed to add to the style of the restaurant." Y/n chuckled.
"How often do you fall?" Jack said turning around to face y/n.
"I'm a very clumsy person so I fall almost every day." Y/n bent over the table to grab the salt and pepper holder.
"I think we're done." Sadie said to y/n.
"Oh okay let me go get the receipt." y/n skated behind the counter and grabbed the ticket.
"Here you go. I'll be right back." y/n said putting the ticket on the table. They put the money on the tray and slid it to the end of the table.
Y/n walked back around and picked up the tray.
"Thank you so much. Have a good night." She said to the group.
"You too." Most of them said while scrambling out the door.
Y/n went over to the tableand picked up her tip and watched as a small piece of paper fell to the floor.

Y/n slide the piece of paper into her apron and continued to clean the table. She locked the door and went to the back and took her apron off and threw it in her bag along with her uniform. She grabbed her bag and walked out to her car. She drove the five miles to her house and parled in her driveway.
"Mom! I'm home!" She yelled.
"Where have you been young, lady?" Her dad barked.
"I had to take a late shift at work. I'm sorry." She said putting her keys on the table.
"You should've told us. I thought you were hoeing around with some boy!" Her dad yelled.
"No sir. I was working."She said walking up the steps
"Don't do it again without calling!" Her dad huffed.
