Luna
I won't get to hang out with Ivory this summer. She wanted to visit her grandparents in Japan. I don't remember much of them, but they were friendly people.
I thought I could see my family like Ivory, but with expenses, I can't. And besides, Ivory's parents are partially covering it.
"Have fun," I said to her over the phone. Ivory's at the airport.
"Have fun with your date," Ivory teased. People think just because you hang out with the opposite sex. You're dating them. It's dumb.
"Mhmm okay," I rolled my eyes, but we chuckled. I'll miss Ivory.
The day followed, taking online classes and surprisingly, napping.
The sun blared in the afternoon, heating up the apartment. The phone blinked brightly.
Meet me at the café. I'll give you the address- Ambrose.
The location displayed on my phone as I got dressed. Crop top, short jeans and converses that goes with my messy bun.
The duffel bag swayed my shoulders as the café appeared on the corner of the street. 'The Mangold' the restaurant named. I headed in.
It was bustling, but I saw Ambrose in the corner, by the window. His hood went along with the jeans. Ambrose was looking out the window.
I greeted him.
"Casual much?" I teased.
"Yup. Casual is gold". Agreeable.
"What book is Silibus signing?".
"The same book I showed you before. It's gonna start in an hour."
"Want to go now?".
"Sure," Ambrose was hyped.
We walked through town, coffees in hand and the bookstore was packed. But the line was progressing fast as we entered.
Silibus had a grey beard and perfectly combed hair. The table that sponsored the book is where he sat.
"How are you, my valuable reader?" Silibus shook Ambrose's hand. Ambrose froze.
"I-I'm f-fi-Fine. It's an h-honor to me-meet you," Ambrose sound like a broken record. Silibus smiled as he signed Ambrose's book with a playful yet beautiful script.
"There we are. Have a good day, make sure to check my new release." Ambrose nodded quickly and shrieked in the excitement of the book.
"And you young lady?," Silibus turned to me.
"I only came for my friend," I said.
"That boy? He seems sweet to you," Silibus said.
"We're just friends." Can this weird writer get a grip too?
"Have a good day young lady. And know you'll find something you'll least expect." Weird.
Ambrose wasn't too far out. He was mesmerizing the book.
"Ambrose, you okay? You were rattling," I said.
"O-Oh yeah I'm fine. He's just amazing."
"He's only a writer?".
"Not just a writer, but a celebrity! A famous person Luna." The laugh burst out my mouth.
"What? He's spectacular on writing," Ambrose shrilled.
"He's a writer! Nothing special, but if he made you happy today, that matters."
"Thank you for coming with me. It was great." Well, today wasn't bad.
My stomach growled loudly, begging for food. Maybe the books can wait later. My stomach can't wait anymore.
"Wanna eat now? I'm hungry," I said.
"Sure. We got time to kill."
A pizzeria was around, and the aroma of cheese and sauce satisfy my belly. As the pepperoni pizza came, I immediately gouged it down.
"Slow down, or you'll choke," Ambrose said. I was about to retort, but something caught me off guard.
"W-What's wrong?" Ambrose tensed.
"You have pineapple on your pizza," I said. Ambrose sighed.
"It's not bad Luna, try it," he tore the uneaten slice and handed it to me.
"No!" I fought between the ripped slice. Ambrose laughed heartily as the pizza fell in my mouth.
"You're evil," I said. But after a second, the pizza tasted good.
"Told you," Ambrose laughed.
"Thanks, genius for pointing it out," I retorted. However, we kept laughing, and the people looked at us like we're crazy. Maybe they're right.
