A few days after the funeral I've been drifting through the days as they pass. I have to go back to school tomorrow, I didn't want to go but I know it's for the best. Kayla shakes me attempting to wake me up. I groan and roll over.

"Good morning sleepyhead," she says. I groan again,

"I don't wanna get up. Five more minutes." she sighs and leaves the room. I turn to look at the dresser to see a family picture of my mom, dad, Andre, and me. I smile remembering that day. I look up at the ceiling and sigh. Realizing I couldn't fall back asleep, I get up from the bed and start to get dressed. All I have are simple t-shirts and joggers. I don't own any overpriced clothes. My family wasn't rich nor poor. When I finished getting dressed I go down the stairs to see the children heading out to school. Today was my last day of not going. I have been dreading to go back. I plopped down on the couch the was outside. I feel the air on my face and I sigh. It felt so relaxing.

"Al." confused I look up and see him. With shock written all over my face, I look into the sea blue-green eyes that we share. He looked ashamed and looked sorry.

"What are you doing here?" I say harshly. Looking at him made me angry. He left us behind after some girl who slept with anyone she saw. He called us mistakes. When he was still with us he would come drunk and would say harsh things to my mother and me.

"I wanted to say sorry and hope that you would come home with me," he says with his head hanging low. I can't trust him. Not after what he did. Mom said on a contract if she died or if dad died, or both we wouldn't go with him. I shake my head.

"I can't." He looked hurt and angry but recovered quickly.
"I should've known. Maybe it would be the best. After all, you guys were mistakes." he left. Again. He could've shown that he would become better. But I guess not, he's still the same.

Today is the day I go back to school. I woke up at six in the morning. I didn't want to go. I heard a knock at my door signaling to get up. I groan and get up. I head to the bathroom hurrying so I could be the first one there. With luck I was. I head in and fist pump in the air. After I brush my teeth and hair I hear the thumping of feet running to the bathroom. I leave the bathroom to see a line of children of different ages to go to the restroom. I head to my room and change. I wear a black t-shirt, my necklace with a cross on it with some black joggers, my sweater and my converse. I head downstairs and get a piece of toast and head out the door with my backpack.

I'm at my new school. I wait until I see a bunch of students starting to arrive at school. I head over to the office to get my schedule. Since I'm in 7th grade I go to the local middle school. After I get my schedule, I head over my locker. I put my folders and books in there and wait for school to start.

I must say that the school is the worst. Many things can happen and it feels like prison or hell to us. I pull the hood on my sweater and walk to my first class. Once I enter the classroom, I go straight to the desk in the back. I'm glad no one has noticed me yet, I like being alone. But sometimes I do long for someone to care, someone to help. Someone from my dreams to come up to me, comfort me. I was planning to say to my mom that I was gay, lesbian, I knew that I wasn't straight. But that day never came, all because of that drunk driver.

Ring! Ring!

The bell rang indicating that classes had started. I hang head my head low and heard students filing, talking to their friends. I sigh waiting for the teacher to arrive.

"Hey!" I hear a voice. I look up to see a beautiful pair of emerald, green eyes. I stare into the beautiful eyes. Then I look at her facial features, and I must admit she was beautiful. She had beautiful reddish-brown locks, with a tan, and sharp face.

Then the teacher walks in breaking our starting contest and walks to his desk. She leaves and goes straight to her seat. He starts taking roll call and calls her name,

"Lily James?"

"Here!" She raises her hand and he continues down the list then he gets to my name,

"Alexis, Alexis Perez?" I raise my hand slowly and everyone looks at me.

"Here," I say quietly. He nods then finishes the roll call. I sigh while he starts teaching the class about certain subjects in our science class I hardly pay attention.

Ring! Ring!

Yay one class did and five more to go. I sigh and walk to my next class. Then the unthinkable happens.
