"Hmm...seems like you would be a great fit for Gryffindor...but..."
I was begging. "Not Gryffindor. Not Gryffindor."
"Not Gryffindor? You're the first person to say that in a very long time."
I kept thinking. Not Gryffindor. Not Gryffindor.
"Well, if you're sure...better be..."
The moment I was waiting for.
"SLYTHERIN!"the hat boomed.
"yes!" I say. I get up and I look over at Dad. He's clapping the hardest of all the teachers, except Dumbledore, who was clapping about the same.
I run over to the Slytherin table and sit next to Malfoy.
"Congrats, Cecilia!"
"Thanks, Draco!" I say smiling wide. "We can hang out all the time now! I'm sure Charcoal will be so excited too!"
"Can't wait!" he said returning the smile.
Dad was intently watching us talk. He looked upset.
A student sitting across from me decided to start talking to me.
"Are you Snape's daughter?"
"Adoptive daughter, but yes."
"Awesome! But what happened to your real parents? "
"They're dead. They were killed. " I sighed because I've had to talk about this a second time.
"Who killed 'em?"
"I dunno. And even I wanted to know, Dad doesn't like to talk about."
"Don't you at least want to know what they look like?""hey, can we stop talking about this?"
"Do you at least know there names?"
"I said I don't know!- just please can we just stop? I said I didn't want to talk about it."
"No-"
"Hey, cut it out. She asked you to stop,"Draco snapped.
The student finally took the hint and left me alone for the rest of dinner.
I need to thank Draco.
I look over at him, and he looks like he's having fun talking to his other friends.
I just return to eating my dinner in peace. Soon enough, everyone's down eating and it's time to go to our dorms.
The Slytherin common room was in the dungeon. We followed Da- I mean, Professor Snape, to our common room. While he was leading us, I look over at Draco who's walking alone, so I decide to thank him about earlier.
"Hey Draco!"
"Hey Cecilia"
"I just wanted to thank you for sticking up for me earlier. I really appreciate it." I smile at him genuinely.
"Don't mention it." He said returning the smile.
We talked until we reached the Common Room to which my father explained the Sleeping quarters, and how everything we needed was at our bunks.I say goodnight to Draco, and I climb up the staircase and entered a large stone room, with little green lamps lit along the walls. I pick a bottom bunk near the corner of the large room, and I find my trunk, and I see Charcoal sleeping soundly.
I change into my PJs and Is snuggle up to Charcoal, and quickly doze off, excited to start my first day of classes.
