"Come on boy," the drenched teen called Lenny softly as the three teens walked away, he caught up with them, feeling hopeful. He still didn't quite trust these humans but he helped them so they should show graditude. "Whats your name?" Andy stopped and bent down in front of him, reaching for his collar, the name tag was faded but you could still slightly see the writing. "Lenny huh? well Lenny, who ever owned you didn't deserve you because you ended up in this mess," he felt guilt. Kayla and Patrick looked over, pausing in realisation, "he has a home, they might want him back?" Patrick suggested, he pulled his phone out, "whats the number?" he asked. Andy frowned and looked at the tag, "what if they don't want him back," he sighed. "Dude, his probably lost, who'd get rid of such an amazingly loyal and behaved purebred border collie?" Kayla suggested with admiration. "His mine now," Andy selfishly put his arms around the dog like a toddler. "For peeks sake, move," Kayla pushed him out of the way and read the tag.
"Hello? sorry to bother you, but we have found your dog, his with us right now." Patrick spoke as the phone picked up. "Oh hi, we are kind of busy right now, maybe you should hang onto him, are you pet owners?" the voice spoke, it was the mother. "Uh are you serious, you don't want your dog?" Patrick hissed. "Uh... we just can't pick him up right now," the lady nervously replied, "well we are-" the phone hung up as Patrick tried to argue. "WTF was that?" Kayla gasped, "they said they are 'busy'," he stated with unease. "They don't want him back, so his mine now," Andy grinned. "Maybe, or they really are busy," Patrick suggested, starting to walk again. "How is a jobless sixteen year old going to look after a dog?" Kayla admitted, "i need some responsibility, plus i have dogs at home," he shrugged. "So you expect Lenny to bond with you and then you abandon him just like his other owners, thats selfish," she murmered. "Okay, maybe we wont keep him, he just needs help," Andy got frustrated, "I wish i could bring him back home with me," he wailed. "Yea its not possible," Kayla entered a store and came back out with a lead, "here, clip this on before he gets lost," she handed it to Andy who silently strolled along.
"Mum, where home!" Patrick called, no one replied. "Okay that gives us a bit of time to explain then," Kayla sighed with relief. "I'm going to feed him, he looks starving," Andy headed inside to get the dog food, luckily there where two dogs in the house already. "Here you go," he placed a bowl on the floor and wandered outside. "Hey guys," he was greeted by the two small dogs that wagged there tails and barked. "Hope this goes well," he crossed his fingers and picked the Pomeranian up, leaving a confused French Bulldog behind. Lenny had finished his biscuits and padded over warily. "Lenny, this is Nugget," Andy nervously placed the dog on the ground. Nuggets eyes widened with overwhelm as Lenny approached him slowly. "Uh, hi?" He whined. "Hey," Lenny simply looked down at the tiny dog sourly. "I don't bite so your safe with me," he assured and started to wander away, "no come back I haven't introduced you to Butch yet!" Andy angrily chased the dog. Lenny grinned as he got an idea, his picked up speed in a quick sprint as he bolted upstairs. Andy chased frantically as Lenny disappeared from his sight, diving under the couch. "Where are you?" He laughed. Lenny silently panted as he watched closely, foot steps crashed against the tiled floor, getting closer and closer to him. He braced himself to make a run for it as Andy crouched down to look under the couch. As he did so instantly, his paws lead him towards the backyard door, instantly coming to a hold, any dog would crash into it but him. His eyes blazed as Andy caught up. "What was that all about?" He almost collapsed on the ground. Lenny shrugged in his mind but it wasn't physically possible. "Your a strange one, very energetic," he smiled, opening the door, "go say hi to Butch," he commanded. Lenny didn't hesitate to step outside, as his paws reached the freshly cut grass, he felt sudden satisfaction, as his pads had been itching to feel that nice soft substrate. "Who are you?" Butch asked with a growl, Nugget stood between them responsibly. "New dog I guess," Lenny howled, "yea? You look scruffy and disgusting," Butch snorted. "Thanks, you look like a wrinkly pillow," Lenny smirked. He backed away incase the dog snapped, but he was pretty chill, he went on to do his business. Nugget shook his head, "where did you come from?" He asked suddenly confident. "Not far from here, I am not a stray, just an abandoned purebred who loved his owner," he announced pithily. "Why did they get rid of you?" He questioned. Lenny went silent in reminder of how he ended up here, his eyes showed signs of horror. "I dont want to talk about it," his tail edged between his legs, as he glanced at his squeaky toy that lay on the grass. Nugget frowned and simply nodded. "Well nice to have you here," he awkwardly walked away. Lenny's ears drooped as he took off for the tree in the large backyard, he curled up against the roots and closed his eyes.
