Ruby's POV
School, how do I describe it. Well the actual school is larger than I imagined and nearly a month and a half into the year I still can't find my way to my classes, the people are interesting, the cafeteria food is gross, and the work load is fucking huge. As for my mental state, it has been worse, and it sure has been better. Nick has called as much as he can while on a busy tour, and I've managed to keep myself busy between school, my friends and now dance classes I'm taking.
"Ruby!" I turned in the crowded hallway to see Sam running towards me. He bumped into a few underclassmen but hardly glances in their direction.
"Sam watch where you're going," I yelled to him during his ongoing rampage. His brown hair flapping as he sprinted down the outdoor locker hallway. He finally lurched to a stop a foot from me.
"Sorry it was urgent." He shrugged not taking a second look behind him to see the damage he caused.
"Ok?" I was trying not to laugh.
"I got a D on my math test and I need you to help me study for my retake." He smiled his goofy face-filling smile and I just shook my head in exasperation.
"Fine, tonight." I said before trying to find my way to Physics.

It was painful per usual. I showed up late because I couldn't find it and then I sat for an hour long lecture on inertia. My balding 65 year old teacher also talked at the pace of a snail so I really struggled to keep my eyes open. Relief flosses over me when I realized that it was now lunch and I would have a break from the agony that is the modern day school system. I had grown accustomed to bringing my own lunches because the salad bar had 4 ingredients: wilted lettuce, soggy croutons, full carrots and expired dressing. Which although appetizing to some was not cutting it for me. I grabbed my once white lunch box and headed to the outside sitting area. I knew where to go, the small table sat underneath a tree giving it shade but it was pretty far away so none of the "cool" kids wanted it. I collapsed on the bench and let my head rest in my arms for a moment.
"I'm not mad I'm disappointed." I looked up to see Audrey approaching me by herself pre-ranting, "I spent 95 hours on that paper it is not worthy of an A-" she crashed her trey onto the table.
"I ignored her and ate my sandwich while she played with her inedible school lunch. I heard another pair of feet approaching and looked up to see Zoe walked towards us. She was empty handed and looked annoyed.
"Where's your food?" I asked her.
"That's not important," was all she said.
"Ok is that why you seem angry?" She nodded no.
"Zion called today." The lack of information was puzzling because all I felt after Nick called was happy.
"They come back soon!" Audrey squealed a little. And Zoe just rolled her eyes.
"If Zion called why are you mad?" She was getting on my nerves.
"I don't know we just argued the whole time." She moved to find her phone in her back pocket and started to type something. I moved my attention away from her.
"Are you excited to see Brandon?" I asked, not that I needed the answer because it was fairly obvious.
"Yeah I can't believe it's in a week," she was still messing with her food, "and how are things with Nick?" We didn't talk about them much so it was good to finally be able to tell her all about us.
"Great, I know he's been gone but it feels like it's been so short, just talking to him makes it seem like he never left." Audrey smiled.
"I bet there's really only one thing you can't do over the phone," she joked and I blushed.

Lunch was short and sweet and I finished the day with two of my favorite classes; history and video production. Both flew by and soon I was starting the engine of MY car to leave this hell hole for the day. I had finally convinced dad to give me his old car, and while it wasn't fancy it was completely mine. I heard the clicking of the passenger door and looked over to see Sam slipping into my car. I looked at him confused.
"You didn't forget did you?" He buckles he seatbelt "math test?" It came back to me.
"No i didn't forget," I scoffed at him not very convincingly. He just shook his head.

"How does that make any fucking sense?" He asked looking at my piece of paper I was holding out to him.
"Sam are you even listening?" I yelled at him.
"Yes but this is stupid." He slammed his notebook and pen onto the bed.
"Or maybe you're stupid," I replied. He stopped and looked at me for a second. Before we both let out our bubbling laughter.
"That's also true." He pointed at me jokingly. I pushed his finger away and laughed.
"I'm hungry," I said before standing up and walking downstairs to my kitchen. I'll be honest the house was really lonely without Edwin and the other guys. Where there used to be 5 splashing guys in the pool there was still blue water, and where 5 guys used to sit playing video games and yelling at each other was a neatly made couch and a black television screen. I glanced around half expecting to see someone making food or skateboarding inside but it was silence.
"What are you thinking about?" Sam approaches behind me.
"Nothing," I continued over to the kitchen. I rummaged through the pantry and fridge finding a bag of pretzels and a nearly gone jar of Nutella.
"Look what I found," I danced around Sam holding the bag "too bad there is only enough for me." I giggled. I knew the response I would get.
"If anyone's not getting any it's you," he chased me around the island and finally backed me into a corner. He ripped them out of my hand and started devouring the snack, now it was my turn to chase him.
"What's going on?" I now had the bag in my grip when I looked over to the door seeing Nick and Edwin standing there, it was Nick who spoke. He looked a little angry but I was baffled as to why. I ran over and jumped into his arms. I couldn't keep the smile off of my face.
"I thought you got back next week?" I asked. He looked at me a little angrily and with some judgement.
"Are you not happy to see me?" He looked past me to Sam.
"No I'm obviously excited, I'm just surprised." He nodded and pulled me in for a kiss. Almost like he was claiming his territory in front of Sam. Which was unnecessary since Sam was just a friend and because Nick was kind of everything to me. I broke away smiling at him.
"No love for your brother?" Edwin stood his arms open for me to entangle myself in.
"I missed you Eddy." I said against his chest.
"Uh I should go," Sam smiled uncomfortably and I broke away from the hug. "Congrats on the tour by the way." He smiled at us but I noticed Nick looking him up and down. Once Sam had left Nick grabbed my hand and moved me to my room. God I missed the feeling his skin left on mine. Goosebumps formed and I couldn't stop them from overcoming my entire body at least that hadn't changed. He slammed the door behind me, I was expecting a fight over Sam but all he did was grab me and pull my chest against him.
"I need you right now." He said in a deep voice making my toes curl. I just nodded as I watched him move back in to kiss me.
