Summary: This is set right after the events of Infinity war. The reader is watching the news and sees that only a few Avengers have survived the attack. She doesn't know that Peter is Spider-Man.

Sitting in front of the small TV in your apartment wasn't something you did very often. You usually enjoyed studying and reading. But what was being said on the news had caught your attention.
"We have just received news from the government that half of the world has mysteriously turned to ash, including most of our heroes from the Avengers. The remaining heroes are Iron man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, Thor, and War Machine. We don't know what has caused this tragic event but we assume it is linked to everything strange that has happened here recently." You stared at the TV in shock, jaw dropping. What the hell did the reporter mean most of the Avengers had turned to ash?! You couldn't believe what you were seeing.

Still sitting on the couch a little while later, you heard a knock at your door and went to answer it. Standing there, was Ned Leeds one of your best friends. He looked as if he had been crying for a while since he had tears in his eyes and a splotchy red face. You gave him a look of concern and stepped aside so that he could come into your apartment. You then engulfed your friend in a hug, still unsure what was wrong. Then he spoke.
"Y-Y/n, I h-have to t-tell you some-something" he said through shaky breaths.
"Of course Ned, you can tell me anything."
He took another deep breath and wiped away some fresh tears.

"He's gone, Y/n." Ned started sobbing again. You were so confused. Who's gone?
"Ned, who's gone I'm confused."
He started crying even more so you brought him to the couch and sat him down. You didn't know what to do. You thought it might be a good idea to call your boyfriend Peter since Ned was his best friend. Yeah! Peter would know what to do. You went to your contacts and found Peter's number and called it. Straight to voicemail. Weird. You tried a couple more times before giving up. Maybe he was busy.

You stood up and went into your kitchen to get Ned a glass of water and some Kleenex. Then you heard his voice come from behind you.
"Pe-Peter." You turned around.
"What about Pete?" Ned gave you a sad look before speaking again.
"Peter's gone." Dropping the cup full of water in your hands, you're frozen in shock. No, this wasn't happening. He can't be dead, he just can't be.
"How do you know that Ned?"
His jaw dropped and he stared at you with confused eyes.
"You mean Peter never told you?"
"Told me what Ned?"
Taking another deep breath, Ned spoke the words that would completely change your life.
"Peter's Spider-Man."
