I was leaving/
the gas station one evening/
I ran across this woman who's luck was receding/
Looks are deceiving/
We talked and her mind set was very intriguing/
She had no money and I could tell hadn't been eating/
But kept a positive outlook and kept believing/
She told me that the most important thing in life is to keep dreaming/
That everything happens for a reason/
You just have to find the meaning/

I was amazed by her perspective/
She said the only opinion that matters is the one in your reflection/
Power gets you feared but knowledge gets you respected/
I interjected/
I had to ask this question/
I don't mean to be rude but what lead you in this direction/
She told me she lost her job and got stuck in a recession/
After that she got lost and couldn't find employment or an objective/
She got tired of rejection/
Got caught in a deep state of depression/
Then started experimenting with different injections/
I could tell she was being honest by her facial expression/
I told her I got a confession/
I've been through similar states of mental oppression/
I have all this pent up anger and aggression/
I asked her how she got through it I need some suggestions/
She told me the only way to counter hate is with love and affection/
Find your peace and that will be your resurrection/
I thanked her for the advice then we went in our separate directions/
Looking back our conversation felt like some sort of intervention/
I understood that her knowledge was her prized possession/
Her true intention/
Was trying to get me to understand her story from my perspective/
I learned to use my imperfections/
To power my knowledge into a different dimension/
Because power gets you feared but knowledge gets you respected/
