(Told from Loki's Point of view)
We enter the room and there's a deafening scream. Mrs. Weasley comes rushing forward and picks Ginny up with tears streaming from her eyes.
Ron, Lockhart and Ginny were all drenched in sweat and slime, and Harry was covered in blood. I looked down at my clothes, and noticed how spotless they were. Some of my robes were flecked with ink, but otherwise I smelled of sweet lavender— for some odd reason.
"You saved her! You saved her! How'd you do it?" Mrs. Weasley exclaims happily. For a moment I think she's talking to me, and I hold my head high, but then she runs to Harry and takes him in her arms. All of a sudden my elation is wiped from my face and a sour expression replaces it.
I noticed Dumbledore was in here too, and I smile up at him in an attempt to regain my humility.
Harry starts to tell them everything, and I continue to wait patiently for my turn to take over. Eventually Harry's voice starts to get slightly hoarse and I take over, telling them about everything that happened in the Chamber of Secrets. I skip over some parts, like when I picked up Ginny and said that I was her Handsome Prince, and the parts where I tried to talk to Riddle, which were mostly me effing around. Ok, maybe I just might have told them that it was mostly my doing, but I still kept the part where Harry killed the Basilisk.
I also didn't tell them about the locket I pulled out of the hat. Something tells me that it wasn't a good sign.
"What interests me most is how Lord Voldemort managed to enchant Ginny, when my sources tell me that he is currently hiding in the forests of Albania." Dumbledore comments.
I pull out the diary and explain what Ginny was doing with it. Dumbledore takes it and examines the hole where the Basilisk fang burned through it.
"Minerva, can you please escort Ginny and Mrs. Weasley to the Hospital wing? Professor Lockhart—"
"Goodness, I'm a professor? I expected I was hopeless!" Lockhart says, surprised.
Ron explains what happened to him and Professor McGonagall also takes him to the infirmary.
"Ron, Loki, can you go with them? I'd like a few words with Harry." Dumbledore says.
Ron casts a curious look at Harry and Dumbledore and then leaves, but I'm not as obliging.
"What would you like to say to Harry? I believe I have every right to know as well, considering that I was with him all the time." I say, clutching the Locket tightly inside my pocket.
"Very well then, I suppose you do have every right." He says. "It was you who stabbed the diary, correct?"
"That part was right." Harry said, glowering.
"What do you mean?" Dumbledore asked Harry.
I knew what Harry was going to say, but there was nothing I could do to stop him. I couldn't stop Harry from telling Dumbledore how immature I was acting in there— yes, even I admit it, but it was just my personality! I couldn't help myself.
Of course Harry, Dumbledore's favorite, told him how I behaved there. I didn't look guilty, but Dumbledore looked at me with an increasingly disappointed stare.
"Loki, this is serious." Dumbledore tells me.
"As if Harry didn't break at least a million school rules as well." I counter. "So you're going to reward him and punish me?"
"20 points from Gryffindor for your outrageous behavior." He says. I could feel my veins coursing through me, my fists clenching and unclenching around the Locket. I eventually held my fists so tight that I could feel my nails cutting into my palms.
"As you wish." I force the words out of my mouth with a falsely sweet tone. Normally I'm good at lying about things like this, but today it was different. Today I felt like I had been punched in the stomach by someone who refused to accept me, but accepted the dark lord into his own school before me.
Dumbledore turned back to Harry, and they talked as if I was invisible. They talked about the house Harry should have been in, and Dumbledore mentioned the sword that Harry had pulled out of the Hat. He said that only a true Gryffindor could have pulled that out of the hat.
My mind went back to the Locket in my hand. Only I could pull it out of the hat. What was it? I pull it out of my pocket discreetly and let the ornate S on the surface shine in the light. And then it hit me.
This was Salazar Slytherin's locket. Does that mean that I'm a true Slytherin? But I chose to be in Gryffindor. Not because I didn't want to be in Slytherin but because... I wanted to rebel. I was the Slytherin in Gryffindor.
My thoughts threatened to implode. I didn't know what to think. Accept me for who I am? I had already done that. Act like a Gryffindor? I had tried that. Maybe I was just destined to be... no one.
There should be a house named after me.
I looked back at Dumbledore, and then Mr. Lucius Malfoy suddenly ran into the office. A little house elf was standing at his heels.
I didn't give a damn what was going on here anymore. I brush past Mr. Malfoy and his house elf on my way out the door, and immediately went straight to the Gryffindor common room.
I should be in the Slytherin common room, but it was already too late. I knew the feast would be celebrated very soon, but I wasn't looking forward to it. I put on the most rebellious outfit I had for it— my Asgardian armor. The same outfit I had worn when I found Harry and Ron in the common room that one day.
The feast was held in the great hall like usual, but everyone was in their pajamas, except for me. Dumbledore handed out points to Ron and Harry, but not a single one to me.
Something in the back of my mind clicked while everyone else was celebrating Gryffindor's second house cup win in a row. I had signed up for every single course with Hermione when they asked us to choose our subjects for third year. I was going to be the best student in our whole year— no, in the entire school. They would have to make a new grade to accommodate my level of knowledge.
Summer was not going to be very relaxing for me this year. I was going to do everything I could to blow the teachers minds away— and if that wasn't going to be enough, I don't know what will be.
This vow that I had placed at the very front of my mind was what kept me going the rest of the day and the whole ride home. I had plastered a fake smile on my face for the entire day, and I didn't even react when Ginny told us that Percy had a girlfriend. I was laser focused on everything I was about to learn this summer, and nothing was going to break my concentration.
It was nice to see Thor and Frigga again, at least I felt like I was important to them.
The best thing was Thor's face when I gave him a present.
"You've got something for me? Can I see?" Thor asked excitedly as I told him the news.
"Of course, brother." I say. I take the present out of my pocket, and drop the Basilisk fang into his outstretched hand.
It was going to be a fun summer.
