The first signs of betrayal

Claire's POV

I went downstairs to open the door while Darren was still in my room.

"Coming!" I yelled as I ran to see who's at the door. I opened it and was surprised to see Bella.

"What are you doing here? I thought that you were busy," I asked.

"I thought I'd just stop by because my plans were canceled." She scanned my house.

"Are you looking for something?" She seems weird today.

"Nah. Lets just go to your room." She ran up the stairs and I followed her. "OMG Darren? I didn't expect to see you here! What a coincidence!"

"Um hey.." He awkwardly said.

"CLAIRE!" My mom ran into my room. "Oh hey Bella. Mind if I take Claire for just a second?"

"No it's fine! Take her." Bella was acting really strange.

"Ok." My mom led me out of the room. "So we ran out of milk. Would you mind running to the store real quick to grab it? Here's the money and I want change back."

"Are you driving me?" She shook her head. "Hun, the store is like 2 blocks away. I'm sure you'll be alright walking there."

I came back into the room. "Guys I'm going to dip out for a bit to go the the store. Entertain yourselves while I'm gonna okay?"

Darren's POV

Claire went to the store, leaving me and Bella alone. She was asking me questions but I only replied with one word answers.

"So how's school?"

"Good."

"Are you comfortable."

"Yea."

That continued for 2 minutes until Bella came close.

"Your collar's messed up. Here, let me fix it for you." I tried to scoot away but she suddenly pulled me by my collar and kissed me. I kissed her back. She smells sweet like- wait. Darren. You like Claire. Get back to you senses now!

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I ask, bewildered as I pull her off of me.

"You enjoyed that didn't you?" She smiled at me innocently.

"You know that Claire likes me. And I like her. So stop your plans, because its not gonna work." I walk towards the door and she hugged me from the back. "But you can like me instead."

"I'm backkkk!!" I heard Claire's voice coming in from the front door. Thank god she's home. I can't stand another second with Bella. I pulled Bella's arms from my side and ran downstairs.

"I'm so glad your back Claire." I said as I hug her.

"Haha what happened?" She tussled my hair. Bella walked down and just smiled.

"Hey Claire, can I ask you a question?" Bella pulled her to the side and whispered to her. I couldn't hear them very well.

"So.... Like..... him?" Claire slowly nodded and Bella just walked out saying," okay I understand."

"What did Bella ask?"

"It's nothing. Would you like to stay for dinner?" I wanted to meet her family so I said yes. Her mom prepared spaghetti while we just hung around in her room.

"Are you ready for this Claire?" I smirked.

"Ready for what?" She looked nervous. I picked her up by her feet so she was hanging upside down and threw her on the bed. I started to tickle her and she laughed like crazy.

"S-stop can-t brea-the", she said through giggles. She reached up and started to tickle my sides. We started to roll around until her mom screamed that dinner was ready. We both stopped and I was on top of her. I reached in and kissed her.

"What was that for?"

"We'll, my nickname IS lover boy." I stood up and put my hand out. she grabbed it and pulled herself up. We ran down the steps to see her mom and dad at the dinner table.

"Welcome! The name is Darren right?" Her dad said to me.

"Yes. Thank you for letting me stay." I tried to be as polite as possible. I didn't want to get on the bad side of her parents.

We sat down to have dinner and if was surprisingly not very awkward. Her parents were very happy that I'm one of Claire's friends and our conversation went very well. When it was time to leave, I stood up and excused myself. Claire and her dad walked with me to their door and watched me go to my house.

I heard snippets of what they were saying to each other. "He's a very nice boy."

"And it's a bonus he's cute." She said.

I had so much fun today but the Bella incident bothered me. Ugh I'll just forget about it and pretend that it never happened.
