Appendix otherwise known as a list of extra information and context on the book you will be reading.
Zersha- The larger of the two countries the story takes place. Zersha is a democratic monarchy (explained more below) of seven individual states (listed below) each running its government within its own borders, but all answer to the King who at the time of the story is King Philip II. Thirty three years before the book the kingdom was seven separate countries all in an unending war with one another which was very quickly depleting resources on all sides. In a act called the Pact of the Ages, the seven countries united into one then voted on their capital and the ruler of each Kingdom, put up a heir to be chosen by the people and from there the Kings and Queens would not have their sons and daughters rule, but whoever they chose as their successor. During the pact of ages however a new continent was discovered Surria (explain more below) by Odain's former King. The now Governor of Odain tried to keep this from the other countries, but it was quickly discovered. After much debate and Surria petitioning for their independence it was allowed as most of the now unified Zersha was too busy fixing political differences of the past to deal with a new state coming in.
Odain- State of Zersha which is responsible for the discovery of Surria. Known for its mighty navy, but appalling ground forces.
Yerga- The capital state of Zersha in which the King resides.
The Flatlands- A state of Zersha bordering Yerga and two others in which chapter one begins. Known for its' expansive grassy savannas bordered by it's oak forests.
Zia- A Coastal state and the closest state to Surria, borders The Flatlands
Zer- A Coastal state beneath Zia bordering The Flatlands as well
Castan- State bordering the North of Yerga
Stoden (Stow-din) A peninsula state bordering Yerga's east side. Mostly condensed into large barely inhabited rainforests. Least populated state of Zersha and largely unexplored.
Zersha's Government- While the Governor rules their state almost independently with their own armies, navies and Generals. They still must answer to the positions below and the King.
Royal General- Cyrus's father who controls all military movements and troop distribution in Zersha also responsible for managing each states laws, police essentially, and criminal justice systems.
Royal Physician- Controls all medical movements and workings in Zersha approves state distributed cures and the distribution of medics during wars (which have never happened)
