Chapter 4
As I reassured myself that the Figure had left I ran over and knelt beside Isa. As I once again checked her breathing to no change I leaned back against a table and let out a sigh of relief. I'm not entirely sure how long I wait for her to wake, but as the Figure said she woke up rather quickly. She sat up slowly and clutched her head really back at it. "Did I win Cyrus?"
"Afraid not."
Isa playfully waved her arm out in front of her. "Pshaw, there's no way someone beat me, unlike it was like that one time in the village" She tried to stand, but fell back to the ground with a annoyed sigh.
"No! Stay still." I put my hand on her shoulder. "You need to lie down for a minute." As I made eye contact with her she struggled to keep a straight face and began heavily laughing to herself. "What're you finding so funny."
She stuttered and stammered in between laughs and said. "Cyrus, has anyone ever told you how adorable you look when you are, when you're trying to be serious." I was momentarily taken aback by the comment, before I remembered the state she was in.
"No Isa that hasn't been said to me before. Is your head feeling better?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, completely fine. Ugh!" She once again tried to stand and tripped over herself falling forward. I jumped up and caught her by the shoulders stabilizing her onto her feet. "Ok, now I'm fine."
"Yeah right. I'll help you upstairs." I put my arm around her and led her towards the stairs, only briefly stopping to retrieve Mac's sword. "No, this way Isa." I said as she tried to wander off in a random direction.
As we stumbled forward down the hallway Isa with her speech slurred asked "Who was that bloke from, from earlier? First person to beat me since, like um, like since, never."
"No, you've been beaten before."
She looked at me as fiercely as she could in that state "What're you talk'n 'bout, I've never lost till today."
"Well you must have forgotten what happened on your half of age celebration." She looked at me confusedly, but turned her attention away from me as we rounded the corner. "Well you were feeling real tough after about, well six or seven apple ale's you thought you could take on Gavin Reynolds and he was rather wasted as well, but somehow you ended up being thrown through a window. You were in the healing center for a week."
Isa chuckled to herself. "Yeah, guess you are right. Didn't I like, bite off his ear or something of that sort."
"Well you did take a bit off his ear after jumping on his back. Then, he threw you out the window."
"You didn't answer me though." As I listened I could hear her voice become more coherent. We stepped up to her door and she seemed to lose her train of thought. "Oh right, right. The key." She fidgeted through every pocket except the one I could see key in. "Well, oh dear I seem to have lost my key. Maybe I could, well..." She suddenly cut herself off and clutching at her head pushed away from me and leaned against her door. "What, was I... Did I..." She looked at me and blushed and without warning grabbed her key and ran into her room quickly shutting it behind her. I stood there for a few minutes as the last few minutes sunk in before stepping forward and knocking on her door, to no response. I returned to my room and layed the sword at the foot of the bed. I checked the satchel to see if the package was still there. With a relieved sigh at seeing the small box still in the satchel I layed down on the bed.
I slowly sat up and looked at the dim rays of sunshine coming through window. I slowly brought myself to my feet and gathered my belongings. As I stepped forward to open the door I heard a piece of paper crumple beneath my feet. Bending over I picked up the note.
