Labour Day (Sneak peak)
~It's the calm before the storm. The summer before your junior year in high school. And how do you spend it? Working some brutal summer job that actually makes you look forward to going back to school. Or maybe you have an internship that doesn't pay much. That's okay, because it's for a good cause. Or...maybe you spent it at sweetwater swimming Hole. You....and the best friends you'll ever have. Or maybe you spent most of June, July, August in a courtroom, supporting our pals, Archie Andrews and Juliet Cooper, who are both on trial for a murder they didn't commit, despite the DA's closing arguments.
.
.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury." The DA spoke up, her eyes gazing around the room as she took in the faces of everyone there "The evidence and testimony that was presented in this court tell a dark story."She sighs, walking to the front of the room to look at Juliet and Archie. "That Mr Andrews has a history of violent behaviour, that he started not one, but two masked vigilante groups. That he insulted an innocent boy, who was helpless with two broken legs. That he went wilding in the southside of town, and threatened to shoot a young man in the face."
She then turned her gaze towards Juliet, not saying anything for a while before sighing. "And then we have Juliet Cooper, who also has a history of violence but also mental health issues as well, for we were able to get ahold of her medication she used to have but stopped taking." She walks over to her bag and pulls out a orange cylinder like cup, she lightly shook her hand as the pills inside rattled against the plastic. "As you can hear, she never finished taking them."
She placed them back onto the table. "But Juliet was also the one who took the winning shot that killed that innocent janitor, who had done nothing wrong, oh, and we can't forget to mention that she's apart of the Serpents, a gang on the Southside." Juliet went to interrupt before Mary shook her head, pushing the young girl back into her chair as Archie placed his hand onto Juliet's for comfort, holding it tightly. "Then while partying with their friends in the town of Shadow Lake, Mr. Andrews and Miss. Cooper both ran into the woods before Mr. Andrews shot the victim, Cassidy Bullock, point-blank in the head while Miss. Cooper watched on."
Juliet's hold on Archie's hand tightened as the sweat rolled down her forehand, not from nerves but from the heat of the summer, everything was boiling hot in that courtroom. "Now both Mr. Andrews and Miss. Cooper claim that it was Veronica Lodge's father's doorman who shot Mr.Bullock. A shot Mr. Andrews claims to have heard but not seen. But." The woman turned her gaze towards Juliet "Miss. Cooper came out and stated that she did see it happen before running away from the scene, but who knows the truth of what happened that terrible night in the woods near shadow lake? I'll tell you who."
The points straight at Juliet and Archie "Them, that man and that woman. Archie Andrews May be a varsity Athlete, and he may be a sensitive musician, but he is also a cold-blooded killer." She walked over look at the crowd "Then we have Juliet Cooper, Serpent royalty, a girl with mental health issues. She may look all innocent and sweet on the outside, but she's nothing but a crazy, mental girl on the inside who deserves to spend her time in The sisters of quiet Mercy."
Juliet closed her eyes tightly, months previous, Both she and Alice agreed to take the agreement of blaming everything on her metal Health issues, hoping it would keep her out of jail or at least make everything less hard on her. The pills were that were shown used to be used for Juliet's depression, her PTSD and her dark side.
The sound of Mary's chair scraping against the wooden floor made Juliet open her eyes, looking over at the red haired woman. "Ladies and gentleman, we know for a fact that both Archie Andrews and Juliet Cooper constantly put the needs of others ahead of their own. We know that they both helped to solve the murder of Jason Blossom, we know that they both offered their friends and enemies shelter when they had nowhere else to stay.
Mary turned to give a quick look at the two redheads as she sighs gently, looking back at the DA. "Our very own Juliet Cooper who was sick in bed, made it her own mission to rush to sweetwater river to save the life of her friend, who had suicidal tendencies that day, but that only turned into an event where she nearly died herself. If it wasn't for Archie who punched through the river of ice to save the lives of both Cheryl Blossom and Juliet Cooper."
Mary looked at the faces of the DA, hoping she would be getting through to them. "Well, let me remind you, only Juliet who hadn't taken her medication that day, actually saw the murder, for all we know, Juliet was hallucinating. So therefore there were no actual witnesses to the actual killing. There was no murder weapon. There is no motive. At the end of the day, all the prosecution has is cloudy testimony from unreliable people and to blame a sweet innocent girl who has no control over what she does—"
Juliet blanked out the rest of the conversation, she hated how they were making her out to be crazy, Blaming everything on her PTSD and depression. Yeah Alice thought it would be better than being fully blamed like Archie, but still, Juliet didn't want to be known as the loopy kid who got sent to jail for being crazy.
Archie squeezed Julie's hand as Mary sat back down, the redhead looked up at him and smiled slightly as she turned her gaze towards Mary. "Thank you." She whispered quietly while the judge spoke some words Juliet didn't bother to listen too, she just wanted to leave.
Okay so this Isn't the actual chapter as I'm having a hard time knowing what I should do with, Juliet! So does this sound okay with what I wrote today?
