Josh woke the next morning with Lauren in his arms. He couldn't remember ever feeling so...fulfilled.

He looked to Lauren lying on his chest and saw that she was still sleeping. She has to be exhausted.

They had had a long night. It seemed that the flood gates had opened, and they couldn't get enough of each other.

Josh had slept with other girls before, but this had felt like the first time. He had always heard that sex was better with someone you loved; he never thought that could actually be true...until now.

The actual act was, of course, wonderful, but it was more about opening himself completely to another person. Josh had given Lauren every part of himself last night--mind, body and soul...twice...and a third time just to be safe.

He noticed her breathing had changed and knew that she must be awake. "I was thinking, your mom is probably worried about you." He knew his dad hadn't even noticed he was gone. "Maybe you should call her."

"Actually, last night when you were making us food, I looked at my phone and saw she had called and texted...several times. I texted her to tell her that I was fine and staying at Samantha's house. She seemed fine as long as I'm home for that Christmas Eve dinner tonight."

They should both probably be back for that. Josh's dad may not have noticed him missing on any ordinary day, but not showing up for his annual corporate Christmas party would be an embarrassment.

"Lauren, should we maybe talk—"

"No, Josh, I don't want to talk." Lauren lifted her head so she was looking at him, "Let's just enjoy this, not think about tomorrow or the next day or a month from now. I just want to enjoy you right here and right now."

Before he could respond, she rolled herself on top of him and began kissing him. He was ready to enjoy her as well.

After they had successfully tired each other out—yet again—they were wrapped up in each other, arms and legs tangled, when Lauren whispered, barely audible, "Josh, I love you. I wish I had told you before."

He never knew those words could hurt so much.
