Junjou Possession | Chapter 12| Minori
Admittingly, I was confused and a bit shocked when I saw Haruhiko standing outside my apartment. It caught me off guard and triggered the memories of my first day in the office of which I shared with him-eating in his office, and his pissed off attitude when I fell into Ryomei's arms.
And now he's in my house.
I'm not sure what to talk to him about. He did say that he didn't look in my sketchbook, but did he lie about that? He probably would be acting differently towards me if he had looked.
"So," I started in a mumble and turn towards Haruhiko, who still stood at the door drinking his tea, "thanks for bringing back my sketchbook."
He nods. "It was really no problem," he says. "I was interested to find out where you lived anyway."
Really? I shrugged. "It's not much. Really small."
"Do you live alone?"
"Yes. I'm the only one here," I said and lingered in the kitchen a little longer until I drained the tea from my cup. "Like I said, it's really small and cheap. One bedroom, even the bedroom is small-like everything else."
"Hmm, I see," Haruhiko said. He took another look around the front room, which only had one fold-out couch and a few essentials, minus TV. "Did your family help pay for it?"
I shook my head. "I got a job in high school and saved up until I got into University. I work part time at night as a waiter, and a second job as a tutor for younger kids.
"Interesting."
"Mmhmm."
Silence fell between us once again and I immediately felt awkward. I checked the clock and turned back to him. "Er, I have to get ready for work in half an hour and I'm about to cook, so..."
Haruhiko finished his tea and handed me the cup. "Ah, yes. I would not want to be a burden. Minori, thank you for the tea." I took the cup and felt my hand touch his longer than necessary.
"U-thank you." I took the cup and put it in the sink with the other. "Have a good night, Haruhiko."
"You as well, Minori." Haruhiko opened the door but even with his eyes looking out towards the hallway his question is directed at me. "What you mentioned earlier, about calling before arriving, are you sure that it is permissible for me to visit you anytime just so long as I call in advance?" he questioned. I stared at him blankly. "Is that not what you said?"
I thought to myself, well, no one comes over except for Shinobu and Mother on occassions...But Haruhiko is my boss, so that would definitely be weird! But I DID say he could come over though... I sighed. "That's fine. You have my number, right?"
Haruhiko nods, and for a second I thought I saw the flicker of a smile. "Thank you, Minori," he thanked and left closing the door after him.
I took a thorough look around my room and sighed. I had a two classes and internship tomorrow, but I had my night off. I resolved to myself that if my boss was going to come over at any time that I should at least make an effort to clean up a bit. After all, that's what he told me was important for a job as well as life. My body ached just thinking about it. Even with a tiny apartment, Mother put me through army-like cleaning drills to clean this place before I moved in, and for several days after my body still hurt. I hated cleaning, but it if was for Haruhiko I would do it.
At the last sentence of thought I blushed slightly and face palmed. What did I mean by 'if it were for Haruhiko I would do it?!'
