Chapter 2

Tess' POV 

I wake up to someone knocking on my bedroom door. The sun is shining in from between the curtains covering my window, I check the time on my phone and it shines back 1:23. The knocking at my door hasn't eased yet so I groan as I roll out of bed, the overwhelming pain I feel from the aftermath of  last night covers my whole body to the point to where it almost knocks me back into bed. But I keep walking towards the door instead of laying back down into a pile of self pity. The knocking got increasingly loader by the time I got to the door. I open it to find my sister standing there with her head down, her long straight hair covering most of her face. 

"What do you need Angelia?," I ask her in a tone laced with hatred and tiredness.

"I just wanted to see if you were okay, is all," she says as sweetly as she possibly can, this may work on everyone else but I wont be caving into her any time soon.

"Do I look okay to you? Huh,  Angie? I took a beating from our lovely father last night because you don't know how to leave my things alone," I seethe out

"You cannot blame his anger on me. It isn't my fault he does that to you"

I laugh. I know it isn't her fault that he is like this or why he hits me, but I'm so angry at her for arguing with me last night and setting it off because he always comes to the rescue of his baby Angelia. "is there anything else you need? I would really like to go back to bed now"

"No, I guess not. You do know that we are going back to mom's house tomorrow, right?," she asks me.

"I have been counting down for this day, hun. Bye,"  I close the door and lock it before she has time to say anything else to me. 

I walk back to my bed and flop on it when I get to it and surround myself in the big blankets that are on it, I missed the warmth, even though I was only away from it for a few moments. I reach for my phone that is under one of my pillows and unplug it from its charger. It lights up after and shows a few notifications from my friends, Ava and Emma, then one from my mom. I smile when I see the one from my mom because I miss her so much, plus her message is sweet. "Good morning honey! I know, I know I'm sending this at 7:00 am so there is no way you are up right now. But I know you will see it whenever you do wake up. I love you sweetie and I miss you so much, cant wait to see you tomorrow. I'm counting down the minutes <3"

Oh mom, I'm counting them down too."I love you too mom," I text back.

I'm in a group chat with Ava and Emma, they were talking about the so called cuties that they met on this off-brand Tinder. I laughed and texted back, "Good luck girls, bring pepper spray if you go on a date with them, there are serial killers out there and you are both easy prey," they both text back instantly because, like me, they have no life outside of school and home.

"Girl, this hottie can kill me if he wants to ;)" from Ava 

"Is she being serious? Do you really think they will kill us?" from Emma. I knew I would get this reaction from her, she has always been a bit of a spaz with everything. 

I laugh at both of them then send two laughing face emojis. I thought the conversation would end there, but Ava and Emma had different ideas and started to bombard me with why I haven't downloaded the app yet. 

"I just don't see the point in it, nobody is going to text me," I text back. Oh, how that was a mistake. I should have known not to have thought less of myself than a complete hot momma in front of my two best friends. 

"Girl shut your damn mouth, you are hot HOT HOT!," Emma sent.

 "Exactly! Plus, you luckily have two very great people in your life that always do what is best for you" Ava sent.

"And who exactly are those two? I have yet to meet them ;)," I jokingly sent.

" R u d e," Emma sent.

"Whatever hun, you only have us. Anyways, we made you an account on here and put only the hottest photos of you on there. You're welcome :))))," Ava sent.

"Uhhhh I do not recall asking either of you to do that????,"I  sent back.

"LOl you didn't have to, best friends know what you need,"Ava sent.

"Aww come on, we spent our own time doing this for you. Just get on it for awhile and you can deactivate it if you decide you really don't want it," Emma sent. Ugh she knows I always fall for her sweetness.

"Fine, but only for a while," I sent back. The group chat exploded with lots of excited text messages after and the conversation ended a little later. 

It was a little after 3:00 pm now and I went to the kitchen to get some food. I came back to my room shortly after and successfully did it all without seeing anyone. I sat on my bed and ate while watching YouTube. An endless cycle of going from Markiplier, MannyMUA, Smosh and SmoshGames, then some Buzzfeed videos and other random things I could find. It was around 5:30 pm now and I decided to take a nap before we had our "family dinner" at 8:00 sharp. I set a alarm on my phone for 7:45 pm so I knew I would be awake and had some time to fix my a hair and look somewhat decent. I got under my blankets then drifted off into a deep sleep.
