Chapter 3; Is it Fun?

"108 billion humans are living in this world, it decreases, it increases but it will still be the same." I thought this myself while walking on a dark road and while hearing a music play in my earphones, well tonight Inspector Ruiz gave me a case. Well I think you are now wondering why am I thinking about the number of humans well~.

"Lalalalalala~...." i wishpered while dancing and crafted a little smile when I saw my suspect. "Hahaha...... Found you~" sabi ko habang papalapit sa lalaking nakahawak ng kutsilyo at akmang hahagasain na ang babae.

"Oka~y" sabi ko at sinipa ang ulo ng lalaki natamaan ang ulo niya kaya natumba siya. "Umalis ka dito.... kung ayaw mong mamatay!!! Mas malakas ako sa'yo. Hindi ka makakaligtas" tawa ng lalake sabay punas sa labi niyang nagdurugo.

"Huh? As if." bulong ko. Napasigaw naman yung babae nang tumakbo ang suspect at muntikan na akong saksakin ng lalake, nahawakan ko naman ang kamay niya and prevented any casualties. He doesnt seem to give up so I kicked a brick on the floor, it hurts but it's worth it. Tumama ang brick sa mukha ng lalake dahilan kung bakit tulog na siya sa sahig.

"Hi! This is a J, I caught the suspect, come here at once." Sabi ko at binaba ang tawag. "Okay ka lang ba miss?" Tanong ko sa babaeng nanginginig sa takot, tumango naman siya kaya I was rest assured. "T-thanks." sabi ng babae. Nang papalapit na ang umaalingaw-ngaw na ingay ng police car, I left the scene.

You probably are curious why I left the scene, well kaya na ng victim magsalita para sa sarili niya and besides the police is there to get the spotlight as usual.

Jack

Pagkatapos ng ilang araw I still can't move on from the last case that I've been. Nalaman ko din na magkabatch kami ni J at mag kaiba lang kami ng section. But, she seems to be cold to me. She doesn't even talk to me or smile at me when we meet. It felt like we're just complete strangers.

Pagka uwi ko ng bahay nakita ko si dad sa sofa na may kausap. "Jack! Halika!" He called.
"Ito nga pala si Jack ang anak ko. Kaibigan ko pala, tawagin mo nalang siyang Tito Jonas; isa din siyang police." Ipinakilala sa akin ni Dad ang isang matangkad at matipunong lalake.

Nag usap lang kami ng konti at umalis na din siya. "Dad! Paano mo pala soya nakilala?" I then asked out of the blue.
"Ahh. Classmate ko. Pero nakakagulat naging police na pala siya! Alam mo bang matagal na iyang nag aaral sa pagka police pero hindi parin natatanggap. Siguro wala lang siyang luck. Pero ngayon maswerte na siya at nakapasok na siya sa pagka police."
"Ahhh" I answered, frankly speaking I thought na madali lang maging police but from my dad's story I never though na mahirap pala. After that I just got up and slept.

I woke up hearing my dad's voice calling me downstairs. "Jack! We've got a case!" Sabi ni Dad na mukhang kinakabahan. "Dad! Kagigising ko lang! Wait magbibihis lang ako." I said and ran upstairs to change. I was just shocked by dad to be excited over a case kaya nagmadali na din ako.

"So where are we going?" I asked.
"There was a murder! Kilala mo naman yung police kahapon na kaibigan ko! Isa siya sa mga nakahawak sa case na iyon kaya medyo iaadvertise ko siya at tutulungan." My dad bragged.
I just fake laughed annoyed from what he just said. We then stopped at the river side.

Once we got to the crime scene I almost jumped out of shock from what I have seen. J was actually in there investigating and looking serious as ever. "Dad! Iadvertise mo na si Tito Jonas. Mag iinvestigate ako." I said and was ready to leave but then my dad grabbed my hand. I just noticed but he always grabs my hand whenever there is something urgent he needs to say.

"I thought you're not interested in investigating? Perhaps you like that girl?" My dad mocked.
"I'm not interested." I just said.
"Pero lumayo ka sa kanya. Baka may mangyaring masama kapag parehas kayong mag investigate. Mahirap maging isang detective." My dad said. I just didn't mind what he said and left him.

"So, what is this case all about?" I asked while looking at the
"Well a murder, but there are no hints from who did this. Jack." She said.
"Is your dad close to that police officer over there?" Tanong ni J habang nakaturo kay Tito Jonas na nakikipag usap kay Dad.
"Well they are close friends." I said.
"I see." She said but her voice felt like there's something that I just can't seem to notice.

"The victim is Hayley Guttierez. She was shot three times. Some citizens over here saw her corpse and called the police. She was killed in another place and was brought here by the water." She explained.
"She was killed between 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m." she continued.

I looked at the corpse, it was a girl I was taller than her. She was kind of pretty. It was sad for her to die and leave her life so early.
"Is your dad feeling well today?" She suddenly asked.
"Concerned?" I asked.
"Well, I hope he wouldn't get affected by the result in this case. I hope that you can solve this too. But you better get out of this case and leave this to me." She then said.

I was shocked by what she said, I didn't even understand what those words mean. "J!" Inspector called, I just looked at J.
"This letter is for you. One of the citizens over there gave it to an officer. Sabi nila importante daw kaya dapat mong mabasa." Inspector said.

J opened the letter but I don't know why her face was shocked at that moment. After a while she condemned her posture and kept calm.
"Is there something wrong?" I asked.
Her eyes was cold that's why I can't read her emotions.
"Nothing." She just answered and threw the letter in the water.

"Hey! That's littering!" I said and ran after the letter and kept it in my pocket.
"Jack! I hope you understand me and I hope that you won't get hurt by what I will say to you but please listen to me." She begged.
"I thought you were always cold." I said.

"The suspect is your Dad's friend." She said and didn't mind what I've said earlier.
"The victim and Police Inspector Jonas has the same necklace. It was a unique pair of necklace from australia." She said.
"Ahhaha. Just because of the necklace?" I said not believing what I just heard.
"J! Tito Jonas dreamed of becoming a police for too long! Why would he murder someone!" I said.

"Well, I want your heart to stay strong for today." She said.
"I really don't understand you!" I said.
"But I will only believe you if Tito Jonas will say ut himself." I said.
"Ughh! Okay Fine! I'm trying to help but I don't know what to do." She said anxiously.

She then walked towards Tito Jonas, I just tailed her.
"Police Inspector Jonas can I talk to you? Privately." She asked.
"Sige. Ano bang pag uusapan natin?" Tito Jonas said while walking with J.
"The truth." J answered.
"The truth. Anong truth?" Tito Jonas asked while smiling not being able to get what J is talking about.

"That you killed The lady. Your girlfriend." J said which made the smile on police's face fade.
"Wh-what? Bakit ako papatay?" He asked. I was just listening to their conversation.
"Aminin mo na!" J suddenly shouted.

"T-teka anong pinagsasabi mo! I can't kill someone." Tito Jonas reasoned.
"Then yung bala ng baril mo. Completo ba? Glock 22 yung baril na ginamit mo, which is carried by 60-70% of American police officers according to some estimates, holds 15 rounds in a standard magazine. By contrast, the old favorite, the S & W Model 10, held six bullets in a rotating cylinder and required reloading one round at a time." J said.
Tito didn't answer.

"Show me your gun!" J ordered. "Show me!"
"Sorry. Oo. Pinatay ko siya! Pangarap kong maging police sa pinakamatagal na panahon pero hindi ako laging pinagpapala. Habang nag aaral ako sa pagkapolice tinulungan ako ng isang drug company owner masaya ako dahil nakapasa ako. P-pero may kapalit.... inutusan niya ako na patayin Hayley. P- pero pinigilan ko siya, pinigilan ko si Hayley gusto ko siyang tumakas.... dahil mahal ko siya." Tito Jonas said.

"But you still killed her! You crossed the line!" I shouted and didn't care if someone heard it.
"Dahil lang sa gusto mong maging police!?" I exclaimed.
"I want you to surrender!" J said.
Tito Jonas's face suddenly fell with tears and nodded.
