I wake up to my alarm clock sounding,
"Wake up Hazel. Wake up Hazel."
Which is really annoying.
I do my morning routine, go downstairs and grab a granola bar, swing my backpack over my shoulder, and go to school.
Everyday I notice people walking with their "clan" as I call it. But I like to go solo, because in the end, friends just hurt you no matter what.
I remember in middle school I had awesome friends, and I was totally cool around them, and I was social and stuff, but that wasn't who I really wanted to be. I kinda wanted to be the quiet, kind, girl. But then I ended up lonely.
I mean don't get me wrong, I like parties and all, but not drinking 12 chugs of alcohol damn.
In middle school, my friends left me and went for other people. So I decided I didn't need them. I really don't need people in my life to just ruin it.
The bus arrived. I always sit in the back of the bus since no one sits there. It's always nice and isolated. Some girls gossip in front of me so I always know the latest gossip. Bonus.
I got to school and just go to my locker because like why not. I just want to read my book .
In the halls, I can hear all the jocks shouting,"Ahh dude, why didn't you ask for her number!"
Or
"Dude, where's the twenty bucks you owe me?"
Or
"Shit dude, you made me spill my cologne."
This is everyday.
I close my locker and bump into someone.
"Oh-um Sorry..."
"Nah it's ok."
The boy has brownish hair with blue eyes. He wore converse. Yay. He just said it with a smile and hands me my book.
"Oh-um thanks."
"No problem."
He left and joins his "clan" .
My first class is art. I honestly suck at art because I have no creativity what so ever and I just suck. So, we have this new teacher who wants us to say our names and I hate that.
"Hazel Oakley?"
"Here."
I stand up as I say 'here' and it's so embarrassing. Everyone is looking at me, like I know I'm fabulous but damn.
Oh shit. It's the guy from earlier.
The guy who I crashed into.
O God.
"Miss Oakley, you can sit down now."
"Oh-um, sorry."
"Cameron Mathews?"
"Present!"
So his name is Cameron? Cameron the Camera. I would take a picture of him.
That was a good pick up line.
As I'm looking at him he looks at me and smiles. I just turn to my desk. Wow. That was smooth Hazel.
The teacher is teaching something about glass mosaics and stuff but all I can hear is blah blah blah. After the bell rang, I pack my stuff and take my time while everyone is heading out like Katy Perry just walked through the doors. Except for one person.
The guy. The camera man.
I can't have a crush on him since I just met him, just to be clear.
Right before I almost make a fool of myself by tripping on the side wall of the door and almost fall, camera man is here to save me. Save me? God, it's not a Superman movie Hazel.
"Hey, gotta watch where your join there huh?"
"Oh your the camera man."
Oh crap.
I did not mean to say that.
Aw shit.
"Um- Camera man?"
"I didn't mean it like that, it's just that I thought of something as your name so-"
"Haha naw it fine. I find Camera man an even better name than Cameron."
He smiles.
Is this heaven.
I think it is.
I didn't say anything except um and uh the whole time.
How to make a fool of yourself by Hazel Oakley.
I just swing my wrist out of his grasp and run down the hall.
God Hazel.
Stop being so dramatic.
