Ethan is at a point of such frustration with his boyfriend that it takes all of the power he still has not to throw anything at him each time he comes into their bedroom. It's been days since the scar has appeared and even with Ethan insisting that the pain was no longer unbearable, Tyler wasn't letting the smaller man lift a finger to do anything. Other than basic washing up, Tyler wouldn't leave his side. All of his meals were in bed, and the older man has taken over pretty much every aspect of their dragon training business.

"Let me help," Ethan whines every single time he gets the chance. "I can't do anything about my scar until I find out what the quest is, and that could take weeks or months."

"I'm going out to find at least one of your quest mates later this week," Tyler mutters back as he grabs some wood for their latest trainee, a very shy Blue Rose Blaster, to work with. "There was an announcement from the mage in the next village over that has the scar too."

Ethan folds his arms across his chest and huffs. This is ridiculous that Tyler is making him stay in bed because of his scar. Even after he was made his second heart if anything his fretting over him got even worse and more insistent.

"Not hungry," the taller man asks after only a few bites of Ethan's lunch in bed were eaten. "You need to keep up your strength, my love."

"I'm not eating anything else until you allow me to come along when you meet with the mage," the smaller man snaps. "I'm your partner, and not your child."

The frown that Tyler has is tremendous. Dragon scars are temperamental, and everything that Tyler has read on them suggests that the bearer get as much rest as possible. Scars can cause horrible muscle pains and restless dreams until all of its other scar bearers are found. Ethan has been told this numerous times.

The blue eyes of Ethan were looking as if he is prepared to fight for the long term over this, and despite Tyler's fears, Ethan was right. He was an adult and capable of making his own decisions, dangerous or otherwise.

The large hands slide up the slender arms, and cup around the narrow cheeks.

"Okay, you win," the taller man sighs as he places a kiss on the smaller forehead. "You're an adult am clearly a very skilled sorcerer thinks that you are up for the task of a dragon's scar. We'll be off in the late morning to the next village, but on on condition."

Ethan lifts his eyebrows and waits.

"You'll ride on Hattowshire," he continues. "He's a strong dragon and he's more than excited for the chance to get out of the enclosure."

The smaller man huffs again, but this time the added throwing up of his hands in the air.

"Hattowshire is still too little to handle a rider."

Tyler chuckles at the way his boyfriend grumbles at every little thing. Granted some of it is the pain of the scar. It causes its bearers to become more irritable to urge the quicker meeting up of its others, but Tyler is sure part of it is also because of him not eating his lunch.

"You're small enough for Hattow to carry, and this is a great way to get him used to travel. Plus he adores you and misses you."

The last part hits Ethan's heart in the way that the older man had hoped. Ethan did know the small cry of the little land dragon all too well to not want to see him again. Hattowshire has been brought to the two of them a few months ago half starved and right leg broken on their doorstep. They still had no clue where he came from, but they took care of him all the same. By now his health was much better and his leg fully healed, but even for a common land dragon Hattow was incredibly small.

"So, we head out tomorrow morning, then?"

Ethan gives a quick nod and then glances back towards his lunch. Tyler chuckles again and places the roasted quail and chopped potatoes back on the bed.

"I'll just leave this here for you then, in case you change your mind about eating."
