Knight: The Shadow of a New War

Chapter 8: Family reunion

Portmoth. A dusty planet with several large domes dotted round the planet. A huge war that ended up using nuclear weapons destroyed all wildlife and the atmosphere, similar to mandalore. Their ruler, Queen Hannighting, is married to Kaos, one of Knight's friends. Although their wedding took place two months before she was elected Queen so Kaos left so she could focus on her planet. That was 7 months ago and Kaos has been waiting to see her for a long time.

Once the trio had exited The Crusader, they were met by several guards who were surprised to see their king return. They bowed immediately and escorted Kaos and his friends to a speeder that took him right to the palace.

"I never thought you would be this celebrated " Knight said as he looked down at the streets with people cheering and shouting.

"I was always the popular type!" Kaos replied which caused him to be elbowed by Snips.

Inside the dome it was like a huge city. Giant skyrise buildings towered over plazas and small houses. The streets were lined with civilians celebrating Kaos' return. In the distance was Plyms Palace. A huge building built out of a blue Crystal and decorated with balconies and windows.

The speeder landed at the dock and the trio were lead inside by the guards. Inside was a huge room with paintings and chandeliers. At the back was two thrones. The left one was empty where as the right throne was occupied by Kaos' wife Hannighting. She was quite short for her age with long blonde hair and glasses. Her smile was beautiful and it grew when she saw the trio. She was in a white dress with black stripes in the middle. She leapt off of her throne and ran down to Kaos and hugged him tightly before kissing him. Causing Knight and Snips to smile.

"It's been so long hun!" Hannighting said, smiling a lot.

"Too long my dear." Kaos replied while smiling. "You remember the 'kids' don't you?" He asked as he gestured towards Knight and Snips who were now holding hands for the first time.

"Of course, the overly energetic Knight and the Cheeky Snips." She replied while shaking their hands.

"It's good to see you again my lady." Snips said while bowing.

"The same for you old friend." Hannighting replied with a smile. "What brings you here though, i can tell you aren't here to stay." She asked with a lot of sadness in her voice.

Kaos sighed and hugged her again. "GRM is back, we were wondering if you could give us any information on how we could strike them to hurt them. " he explained.

This caused Hannighting to stumble back to her throne. "T-they're back?" She asked and before Kaos could reply three of the guards drew their blasters at them.

"And we're here" he snarled which caused Kaos to ignite his blade and stand infront of his wife and Snips and Knight drew their blades, more determined to protect the Queen than each other.

"I should have known my guards were plotting to take over." Hannighting spat.

"My lady these people are evil!" The lead guard yelled.

"Well from my point of view GRM are evil!"

"Then you are lost!" He yelled, they all put away their blasters and drew their elctro-staffs which crackled with yellow electricity. Their armour resembled the guards of Mandalore but with turquoise clothing instead of blue. "This is the end for you my lady" he growled as he lept into the air towards Kaos but Knight lept into the air from his side, using an over head slash he sliced the man in half and landed and quickly blocked another attack from another guard. Snips was using her agility to her advantage, using quick strikes and kicks. One of her strikes dazed the guard and which allowed her to slice the guard's arms off before doing a cross cut on his chest.

Once the guard was on the floor she turned to see Knight on the defensive. She ran and lept into the air, doing a front flip she spun while she was upside down, decapitating the guard and landing on her feet.

Explosions rocked outside and Snips instinctively ran outside to go help. Knight turned to look at Kaos.

"I'll help defend my wife, you go find your girlfriend." Kaos said as Knight began running after Snips.

"No she's not my- oh nevermind." Knight yelled as he left the throne room. He found Snips by the speeder but in the city, all hell was breaking loose. Hoardes of GRM soldiers were swarming the plazas. Burning them and causing small explosions.

Snips and Knight looked at each other and immediately jumped off the edge. Using the force they landed in the nearest plaza safely and ignited their blades.
